Dear friends and family,
As part of my 50th revolution around the sun, on August 16 I'm taking on the Rock Pile in New Hampshire during the Mount Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb. This legendary 7.6-mile race climbs straight up the highest peak in the Northeast, and is akin to a Slow Olympics - it's so steep that you aren't even outrunning (outcycling?) the black flies that are feasting on any uncovered (or covered) skin. I'm riding to support the Tin Mountain Conservation Center, which does amazing work providing environmental education in New England.
Every dollar raised supports the TMCC, which brings hands-on environmental education to thousands of children across Northern New Hampshire and western Maine. Through their school programs, summer camps, and community initiatives, Tin Mountain helps young people discover the wonders of our natural world and, importantly, how to protect it.
I realize we live in weird times and money is tight but, if you have the means, any amount is helpful - you can donate online through my fundraising page in my bio. As Tesco says, every little helps - just like every pedal stroke will help drag my carcass to the summit.
Thank you for considering it, and I will certainly share stories from my suffering up the climb. Send thoughts and prayers to my bike's drivetrain.
With gratitude,
Ian

I don’t always post on socials, but when I do it’s because Aidan gets to see one of his heroes like .s . What a truly great guy - down to earth, totally approachable, and fantastic with his young (and impressionable) fan base. A great day all around.

Team! I’m not just breaking my IG fast with random sailing stories, I’m actually in one of those boats! I was recently down in Florida (FloRida) training with the US America’s Cup team, American Magic.
I can’t post pics on socials, and the story would take up about 34 IG posts, but suffice to say it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done - literal bucket list stuff. It’s an incredible team of high-performing individuals, singularly-focused on the task of winning in 2024. Plus, they use Sabbath in their reels, so that’s a bonus. 😉
Back to the basement grind…

I was reminded by a teammate that my socials need to be more on point, so here’s some catch-up!
First up is Wells Ave from a couple of weeks ago, where I doubled up in the 3/4 and 1/2/3 races. In the 3/4, went on a flyer at the start; knowing how strong he is I went with him. We formed a 3 man break that stuck - I don’t think Zach would mind me saying that I did the lion’s share of the work, and my and sweet new aero frame allowed us to TT away. Unfortunately, I then provided Zach an awesome leadout, and he pipped me at the line, right as we were catching the lapped field. 😂 I’m slightly bummed to get 2nd, but also happy to see a great (and well-deserving) guy get the top step.
I raced in the 1/2/3 right after, but was so smoked I just finished in the pack. That said, our 3/4 break had a higher average speed than the peloton of the 1/2/3. I’m sure it means nothing, but it was nice icing in the cake. 😊

Not only is he a great guy, but .piotrow is a super fast rider and awesome teammate. He won from a super strong break, and came home with some $$ (and, more importantly, muffins). Congrats on the dub!!

Celebrating morning by heading to and dropping watt bombs while pedaling in circles. This time, however, I’ll be sporting the new kit from !! It takes a lot to make this big fella look reasonable in Lycra, and Ale comes as close as it gets. Fantastic kit, hope to do it justice tomorrow.
Happy Father’s Day to the dads, I’ll exercise enough for us all.

Guys, look - I’m lucky to do my things. tolerates this nonsense, supports it, and I just try to deliver. Today I won a race for Alpine Carbon, and honestly I’m super happy. A super strong field showed up, I created and stuck with a break with awesome break mates, and won a close finish. I’m humbled to be a part of it all, thank you Enzo…

Race prep! // As our team boss Enzo says, “Nothing preps you for racing like racing.” (He also says rubbin’s racin’, but whatever.) With coming up in just over a week and little weekday IRL races available (for normal working people) I entered Tuesday’s Zwift races.
This particular race was pretty brutal, which isn’t really reflected in just average power - there were some early sprints, where I was just trying to hang on, and then a big KOM where I was just trying to limit the damage. After the KOM, I was about 25 seconds off the lead group, but I thought with a *big* effort I could bridge. So, I buried myself and bridged the gap. I was pretty gassed after so didn’t have much for the finish, but I’ll take a top 20 with that much sprinting/climbing.
A couple of IRL races this weekend, and then off to The Peach State for some hot laps…!

IRL racing + I did a thing! // A bit late to post but, you know, life/kids. Anyway, my first race in colors was a podium at Wells Ave Crit. I was able to get into a break at ~31 mins, and we survived the attrition from 4 -> 2. I held off the group sprint for 2nd. Given the strength of the guys in the field, I’m really happy with the result, and happier that my little guys and were there to support/see it. is coming up, so this is a good tune-up for sure. Onwards!

I did a thing! // It’s felt super weird posting with all the s**t going on in the world, so basically I haven’t. That said, I’ve found myself looking for the positives, and my personal positives are that I PRed for ~30 minutes, and I got to ride outside. The 30 minute PR got me a win in a Zwift race, which is basically the same as a business park muffin prime without the muffin, but I’ll take it. The real win was riding outside today, which was every bit as glorious as I hoped for. Spring has sprung, still farming the watts, LFG.
