his Arangetram is very close to my heart.
I first met Yathira briefly in person when she was around 8 years old, during a program in Memphis while I was visiting for a short time. That was the only time we met face-to-face. Every single class since then has been online—never once in person.

Despite the distance, I’ve watched her grow from a quiet, curious little girl into a graceful, expressive dancer with remarkable discipline and dedication. Week after week, screen after screen, she showed up with sincerity, always eager to learn, always humble in her approach. Her consistency and deep respect for the art form have touched me profoundly.

To see her now reach this milestone, performing her Arangetram on August 9th at Bartlett Performing Arts Center, is not just a celebration of her journey—it’s a beautiful reminder that true connection and learning can blossom no matter the distance.

This is a milestone for her, and just as much for me as her Guru.
I am filled with pride, gratitude, and joy as we take this step together.
