Due to heavily saturated grounds and additional inclement weather forecast for Wednesday through Friday, the schedule for the 46th Annual ARP Dirt Track World Championship presented by Summit Racing Equipment at West Virginia Motor Speedway has been adjusted.
“Flooding from Hurricane Isaias has left the grounds heavily saturated, and additional inclement weather is forecasted for Wednesday through Friday,” officials said. “After consulting with our partners at BAM Weather, we made this decision in an effort to provide the best possible conditions for racers and fans.”
Track and series officials have made the difficult decision to postpone the Ohio Valley Steel Block Late Models, Modified Mafia UMP Modifieds, and Sport Mods until Saturday, October 24. With additional storms expected over the next several days, along with frigid temperatures and continued concerns about track conditions, parking areas, and the facility grounds, management determined that the schedule adjustment was necessary.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series portion of the Dirt Track World Championship will proceed as scheduled, with racing set for Saturday and Sunday, October 17–18. Sunday's 100-lap Dirt Track World Championship pays a state-record $100,000 to the winner.
The top three highest-finishing Steel Block Late Model competitors during this weekend's DTWC will still earn a $1,000 bonus, $500 for second and $250 for third. Up to 50 race teams will earn $1,000 in start money with Saturdays Twin A-Mains and Sundays $100K Finale and Jim Dunn Non-Qualifier Feature.
All previously purchased three-day, all-access tickets will be honored on Saturday and Sunday, October 17–18, as well as Saturday, October 24. Two-day armbands will be available for this weekend's event, and single-day armbands will be available for Saturday, October 24.
Additional details regarding the Saturday, October 24 program will be announced in the coming days. Follow West Virginia Motor Speedway on social media at and visit WVMotorSpeedway.com for the latest updates.
All gates are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with racing scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. each day. Fans may begin placing chairs at 10 a.m.
