This past weekend, our team came together for our annual highway cleanup! This is a tradition we’ve been proud to continue since 2010.

This year, we noticed the roads were the cleanest we’ve ever seen them! That’s a direct credit to all of you who choose not to litter and who respect the spaces we share.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our communities safer and cleaner. We’ll keep showing up each year to do ours.

It's Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual observance established by Mental Health America in 1949 to emphasize the importance of mental wellbeing. Each May, attention to the challenges faced by those with mental health conditions and the need for a supportive, understanding environment are the main focus. Across the country, people unite to raise awareness, spark conversations and advocate for improved resources.
In the past, there was a stigma attached to people who were said to be suffering with any type of mental health issues. Now, we encourage everyone to speak out and seek help, whether with a licensed mantel health therapist or even opening up to family and friends.

So, how can you stay on top of your own mental health.
- Self-care is a great place to start. Getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet,
exercising and taking relaxing breaks from stress can dramatically change how you feel.

- Maintain social connections, don’t isolate. You could reach out to family and friends, volunteer or even join a support or interest group.

- Seeking professional help is never a bad idea. You could speak to a therapist, for one session or more, to get things off yr mind and maybe get some coping skills.

- Practicing relaxation may sound strange, but concentrating on your breathing and practicing mindfulness really can make a difference in day-to-day situations.

Now that you have helped yourself, how can you help others.
- Check in on friends and family you have not heard from for some time. When people isolate themselves from everyone, it can be a sign that they need a helping hand and just a quick visit could really boost their mood.

- If someone feels comfortable and opens up about how they are feeling, actively listen and validate their feelings and encourage them to seek professional help. Any support you can offer is so helpful in giving people the strength to help themselves.

Take advantage of all resources offered or discovered and you will find what works for you and have some ideas on how to helps others. Don’t be afraid to speak up.

National Police & EMS Weeks! 👮🚑🚨

National Police Week was founded in 1984 and occurs every May. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund will hold ceremonies, including the 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil, and is dedicated to honoring the fallen, telling the story of American Law Enforcement and making it safer for those who serve.

The week is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers and providing support to their families and colleagues.

National EMS Week occurs May 18-24 and is a time to show gratitude toward EMTs and paramedics who provide lifesaving care across the nation every day. EMS Week is also a time to educate the public about EMS, and the essential service we provide to communities.

Many scheduled public events are held around the country each of the two weeks, to celebrate those who selflessly serve our communities.
We at LSCI Honor and Thank those who serve!

It's National Safety Stand-down week!

Beginning in 2012 as a two-year effort, the National Safety Stand-Down became a successful annual event kicking off each construction season in May. It’s dedicated time for employers and crews to pause work and focus on one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities on the job: falls.

Through toolbox talks, hands-on training, equipment inspections, and open conversations, tens of thousands of employers and millions of workers have used the Stand-Down to strengthen their fall protection practices and send more people home safely at the end of the day.

Construction and road work zones are essential for building and maintaining the communities we rely on every day. But they also come with serious risks—for both workers and the public. Every year, thousands of injuries and fatalities occur in work zones, many of which could be prevented with greater awareness and safer behaviors.

If you’re driving through a work zone, slow down and stay alert. Pay attention to posted speed limits, warning signs, and flaggers directing traffic. Avoid distractions like texting, adjusting your GPS, or reaching for items in your vehicle. Even a moment of inattention can lead to devastating consequences

For construction crews, safety starts with preparation. Wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), following safety protocols, and communicating clearly with teammates can make all the difference. High-visibility gear, proper signage, and barriers help ensure everyone on site remains protected.

Work zones are temporary, but the impact of unsafe choices can last forever. When drivers, pedestrians, and workers all commit to safety, we create environments where progress doesn’t come at the cost of someone’s life.
Let’s build smarter, drive safer, and look out for one another. Every worker deserves to go home safely at the end of the day.
