August’s Candlebright Coven box is an invitation to this divination practice known as sortilege!

In this collection, we’ll explore the history and folklore of this ancestral folk magic craft, alongside crafting a personal bag of lots.
Included in this enchanted parcel, you’ll receive:

-a black velvet bag to keep your casting lots

The wheel year ticks on, my loves, and here we find ourselves dancing in the dog days of summer! The gardens are beginning to overflow with once neat rows spilling weedy every which way, and the landscape sees its first sparkles of goldenrods.

It is in this portal that we welcome Ivy from Blessed Bee Apothecary to lead the Earthwoven Lammas Ritual! Ivy is a passionate weaver of magick & energy, with over two decades of practice. Through blending her devotion to justice, activism, connection, and empowerment, Ivy stewards Blessed Bee Apothecary- a sanctuary for mystics, healers, and seekers of all paths in Western MA.

In this ritual, Ivy will lead us in a seasonal sound bath & lightly guided meditation, offering us a chance to melt into nature and savor the nectar of late summer gratitude. Surrounded by Gate & Garden’s serene nature portal of birdsong, florals, and medicinal herbs, this evening will feel like a wave of calm, community, and connection that washes over us before the descent into autumn.

As always, we’ll all also gather around a lush snack spread of homemade garden to table gluten free nibbles, alongside a Gate & Garden custom blended herbal ritual tea.

One of the biggest influences on how I orient to the world & live my life is curiosity.

And while this quality afforded me few friends or social acceptance in my younger years, I realize that this texture of rebellion is one of my strongest assets.

Curiosity & wonderment are some of the most accessible & powerful ways to interrupt extraction. Because it’s harder to exploit what you’ve taken the time to know.

Every question we ask, every name we learn, every moment we choose “hmm, I wonder what…” or “ohh, I want to know more about…”over numb consumption and assumption is a free yet size-able refusal of the stories that taught us the world exists for our taking.

Curiosity doesn’t just change what we know.
It changes how we belong.

it’s high summer here in Massachusetts- the garden is overflowing & every new day brings a full rush of wild & weedy plants ready for harvest.

And as an herbalist, folk witch, and lover-of-the-land createix, I am busy bottling up this time of abundance in jars, tins, droppers, & more.

As an herbalist, small scale suburban homesteader, plant witch, earth based educator, ritual guide, and more, I grow a LOT of plants!

But would it surprise you that there are many I grow that aren’t “for me”?

Some are for the pollinators, some are for the birds, some are for the soil, some are for the ancestors, and many are simply because they belong here.

I believe that caring for a place is never only for someone else or exclusively for my own benefit. When we tend the web of life, we become part of the abundance it creates, and the work of reciprocity always finds its way back to us. 🌿
