It was a rewarding and difficult test this past weekend! These outstanding martial artists showed what it means to be a higher ranking Black Belt. Their skills, tenacity, and character were presented in amazing form. I am so proud to have them as representatives of Dynamic Martial Arts. They displayed the excellence that allows them to proudly wear their new ranks.
Congratulations to :
Patrick Loring 2nd degree
Alice McDonald 2nd degree
Timothy Mycroft 2nd degree
Tom Dillon 2nd degree
Carliegh Mae Loring 2nd degree
Ken Sances 3rd degree
Please take the time to congratulate them when you see them next!
There are also two students/teachers, Marisa Sances and Julianna Sances who received their 4th degree Black Belts in last weekend’s test. Julianna and Marisa consistently show a strength of character that we should all attempt to emulate. Their Black Belt attributes are not reserved solely for the dojo but also utilized in their daily life : strength with kindness, knowledge with curiosity, and discipline with joy. While sensei is a title many schools use for all Black Belt teachers, at DMA we reserve Sensei as a title for when someone reaches their 4th degree Black Belt. Miss Julianna and Miss Marisa have earned this title through years of hard work and consistent training. Our dojo is a better place because of their involvement. Moving forward they should be addressed using their DMA title of Sensei Marisa and Sensei Julianna. I love you both! Congratulations!

Dynamic Martial Arts is deeply saddened to announce the passing of DMA Black Belt Bob McCarthy.
Bob embodied everything a Black Belt is meant to be. He was a tenacious, strong, and caring martial artist. He loved a good fight and was an intimidating opponent, yet he was always the first to help a struggling practitioner. As a training partner, Bob was generous and encouraging, constantly pushing others to be their best.
Bob truly loved the martial arts. He was a student at DMA for over 25 years, and in all that time, I can honestly say I never saw him give a half-hearted performance in class. He gave everything he had, every time, with unmatched enthusiasm and determination.
In his black belt testing papers, Bob once wrote, “I am never stopping. I will do this until the day I can’t walk anymore.” He remained true to those words. Bob continued coming to the dojo for as long as his illness would allow. When he could no longer participate in general classes, he pushed himself to attend kickboxing. And when even that became difficult, he was undeterred. Accompanied by his amazing wife Nancy, he continued showing up, staying true to his promise to himself.
As a friend, Bob was unrivaled. He was always there to help anyone in need. When a friend lost their job, suddenly Bob “needed” a position filled. If you didn’t know how to get something done, Bob “knew a guy.” Whenever there was something to celebrate, Bob was ready to show up and bring the party, and boy did he know how to bring the party. He was the kind of friend we should all strive to be.
Bob was fiercely loyal to his friends and family, a man of great character. He is no longer in pain and can now be reunited with his beautiful daughter, Kate. My love and condolences to his wife Nancy, his sons Liam and Connor, his family, friends, and all who loved him ❤️.
There is so much to say about Bob. The stories are endless. But let me just say, thank you for everything Bob. I will miss you deeply.
Until Valhalla.

Hello All!
WE WILL BE OPEN WEDNESDAY!
I understand that Weymouth Public Schools will not be open tomorrow. But I am going to go against our usual procedure of following Weymouth Public Schools for inclement weather closings and open the dojo tomorrow. Please note this is not the norm, we are generally strict on following Weymouth Public Schools inclement weather policy. But I believe that I can get to and from the dojo safely and want to be open for those that feel the same. PLEASE NOTE: If it is unsafe driving or if it is unsafe for you to get to the dojo, please do not attend classes!
I simply dont want to be closed for both days. I feel as though I personally can get to and from the dojo safely. Wednesday classes this week are NOT a requirement, so there is no pressure for attendance. The Columbian Square Municipal Parking lot across the street behind the stores, is clear. I have not seen the parking situation out front. I hope to see you all in class by Thursday! Stay warm and safe!
IF YOU WILL BE ATTENDING CLASSES ON WEDNESDAY AND/OR THURSDAY, PLEASE BE SURE TO SIGN UP ON THE SIGN IN SHEETS ON DMA REMOTE! This is a requirement!

Hello All! There may be big storm coming Sunday evening . Please note that if Weymouth Public Schools are cancelled due to inclement weather, then DMA is closed as well.
