Coach Bill’s athletes include state champions, college-level athletes of every division, Olympic Trials runners, and top finishers in major marathons around the country. He is a Certified USA Track & Field Level 1 coach and uses his technical eye to improve form and help prevent injury. After inheriting Horizon High School’s small team of six runners, Bill built up the team to 50 athletes and got the boys’ cross country team qualified for State for the first time in 11 years. His work with the girls’ cross country team resulted in the school’s first girls’ first trip to the State cross country meet in the school’s history. At Lutheran High School, he started a team from scratch and led it to a Metropolitan League title in its third season. RUNNING

Bill has finished hundreds of races, but these days specializes in ultramarathons. He has finished the Leadville Trail 100 four times, along with numerous other races of 50 miles or more. Coach Bill has crossed the finish line of dozens of marathons including the Boston and New York City Marathons twice each. ORGANIZING

Bill Stahl is the race director the Runners Roost Invitational, with 1800+ competitors, one of the four largest cross country meets in the state with over 1800 high school and middle school competitors. Bill also runs i9 Sports, an organization that stages youth flag football, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, t-ball, and cheerleading programs.
