As a parent, it's natural to worry about your child's safety around water. That's why I always recommend starting ISR lessons as soon as possible. Once your little one can move around on their own, they're ready to start learning this lifesaving skill. Even if you don't have a pool, kids are often around water in other places - like grandma's house, on vacation, or at a neighbor's. By giving your child the skills to save themselves in water, you'll have one less thing to worry about. With my next session starting July 6th, now is the perfect time to sign up! Hello! I have not taken the time to introduce myself here, so I thought now would be a great time to do so!
I was born and raised in the Texoma area! I officially claim Wichita Falls as home after graduating high school here in 2013. After high school I attended a few schools before earning my Bachelors in Sport Management from Texas A&M - Commerce. During that time I married my husband of 10 years. I then moved on to get my Masters of Sport Management from Texas A&M University (Gig'em!) in 2020. After this we decided to move back home to Wichita Falls so our soon to be baby girl could grow up with family.
After our first was born in June 2021, I had never really thought about the dangers of having little ones around water. I was a life guard in high school and I have always loved being near water. I wanted my little one to be around the water, but I wanted to make sure that she was as safe as possible. After having this thought, I began to look into how to keep them safe. After doing research I saw that there was not one ISR instructor around the area. This is when I decided to go back to school again and get certified in Infant Swimming Resource. After 6 weeks of study and in water training, I became the only certified instructor in Wichita Falls in April 2023.
Since becoming certified I have had the honor of training more than 70 little ones. These 70+ kids are from families that I have loved to get to know. I consider it a true privilege to give families a sense of peace when it comes to being around water. I am a big fan of pool days and I know how it feels to be a peace around water during swim time, and especially out of swim time when a pool is still present.

Even above ground pools are not safe. Removing the ladder, or these straps that the companies are now having to take off, is sometimes not enough. A child who is motivated enough, will find a way to swim. You can never be too safe.
While talking about next steps with one of my swim families this week, it came to my mind that I do hope your child will never need to know how to save themselves. But man it does feel good knowing that if they do find water, and ALL other layers of protection have failed, my child will still be safe.
