We climb because we remember. 🇺🇸

Yesterday, members of Wild Eyes traveled to Oklahoma City for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, something that has become incredibly meaningful to our gym family.

For us, this one is personal.

Our Al lost his brother, FDNY Firefighter David DeRubbio of Engine 226, on September 11, 2001.

So every year, we show up.

We climb the stairs. We carry the names. We remember the 343 firefighters and every life lost that day. But we also go for Al, to stand beside our friend as he honors his brother.

There are some things that remind you that community is so much bigger than the four walls of a gym. This is one of them.

We train together. We hurt together. We celebrate together. And when something matters to one of our own, we show up together.

David DeRubbio, you are remembered.
Al, we’ll keep climbing beside you. ❤️

Tomorrow, part of our Wild Eyes family will be heading to OKC for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. 🇺🇸
This is something we do every year and it means far more to us than simply climbing stairs.

One of our own, Al, lost his brother on September 11th. He was a firefighter who gave his life that day. So when we climb, we climb to remember him, to honor the firefighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and most importantly, to stand beside our friend. That’s what community means to us. We show up for each other. In the gym, outside of the gym, and especially for the things that matter most.

Tomorrow, we climb with Al. ❤️🇺🇸

We will never forget.

Another one we’re definitely going to miss. 🥹

Cami may have only been with us for a couple of months, but somehow it felt like she had always been part of Wild Eyes. We all glued to her pretty quickly, and she fit right into this crazy little family of ours.

She was incredibly coachable, eager to learn, and genuinely interested in understanding the methodology behind what we do- not just showing up and going through the motions. And SHOW UP she did. She hit Committed Club because apparently after work, there was nowhere she’d rather be than at the gym with us. 😂💪

But one of our favorite things about Cami was her sense of humor and the fact that she kept all of us Uncs educated on whatever new terminology or lingo the kids are using these days. 😂 We learned things. Some of them we probably didn’t need to know.

It didn’t take long for Cami to become one of ours, which makes saying goodbye that much harder.

We’re so glad Wild Eyes got to be your gym home while you were here, Cami. Keep working hard, keep learning, keep being you…and wherever you end up, just know you’ve always got a gym family here. 🖤💚

Another member who will be VERY missed. 🥹

CrossFit’s Theoretical Hierarchy of Development begins at the base: nutrition.

Each level of the pyramid informs and supports every tier above it. Nutrition provides the essential fuel and cellular foundation required for metabolic conditioning, body control in gymnastics, power output in weightlifting, and ultimate ex*****on in sport.

Because nutrition is the most powerful factor fully within your control, its quality dictates the integrity of every higher tier. Optimizing this foundation enhances your physical capacity across all modalities while building a lasting buffer against chronic disease.

Build a solid base. Everything above it depends on it.

This one is VERY overdue… mostly because I didn’t want to post it. 😭🖤

Karleen officially traded Wichita Falls for Dallas for work, and saying goodbye to this one hurt a little extra.
She became part of the Wild Eyes family almost instantly. Whether she was walking through the doors half awake for a 5:15AM, popping into a 5:30PM, or spending her Saturday morning with us at 9:15AM, she was just one of ours. 🥹

But some of my favorite memories weren’t even during the workouts. They were the long conversations afterward… the real-life talks, the hard stuff, the laughing when maybe we probably shouldn’t be laughing 😂, the kind of friendship that happens when you realize someone just gets it.

Karleen, you left a much bigger mark on this place than I think you realize. Wild Eyes won’t be quite the same without you walking through those doors, and Dallas is incredibly lucky to have you.

Thank you for choosing us, trusting us, laughing with us, sweating with us, and becoming family along the way.

We miss you already and just so we’re clear, moving to Dallas does NOT get you out of being part of the Wild Eyes family. 🖤👀

Love you, Karleen. Come home and visit us soon. 😭🖤
