Communication and collaboration - we practice this every single lesson don't we?
And we always LOVE questions....
"Good teaching asks us to keep thinking. To find the image, the metaphor, the language that helps the person in front of us understand. To collaborate with our clients rather than simply tell them what to do.
And sometimes, the clients who ask the most questions make us better teachers because they require us to understand the work more deeply ourselves." - The Pilates Center

Robert and I are classically trained Pilates teachers. This means we have a knowledge of Pilates as a method versus Pilates as a workout. A method produces change a workout burns calories. Please do not confuse the 2. :-)
Between my 2 teaching certifications, I have upwards of 1500 hours in learning the method. I have nearly 15,000 hours of teaching since 2015. Robert has been studying under me since 2021 and he has hours and hours logged in his process of learning Pilates as a method. He is a fully trained comprehensive classical Pilates teacher. Teaching him, has also taught me!
We use all the Pilates equipment. Each piece of equipment offers unique and powerful avenues to help a body transform. Swan on the Reformer may not be right for you ;but swan on the ladder barrel may be perfect. As trained teachers we have a pretty good idea how to transform and progress you through the method to "uniform development". As trained teachers we know how to USE an exercise and an appropriate piece of equipment safely, purposefully and effectively.
Each lesson is a strategy in applying the method to your body. Not a safe list of exercises that are appropriate to whomever might show up to "class". We work by appointment so we can PLAN and prepare for you each and every lesson. :-)
This is the difference. This is the value. This is what we do.
We thank each and every teacher and mentor we have had for investing in us and sharing their knowledge with us. It is our privilege and joy to teach and help our clients Return to Life through the Method of Pilates.

Eyes on YOU
At Today PIlates, we prioritize and specialize in you. Our business is built around private lessons or semi private lessons up to 3 clients in a lesson. We don't have a "class schedule" we have scheduled appointments so Pilates fits regularly into your life.
Why do we do things this way? Because we want you to experience the powerful transformation available with Pilates. This means we need to keep our eyes on you so that you can begin to feel your ineffective movement patterns and build NEW effective movement patterns.
All of us have built in ways we get around in our body and do everything we do. Gravity is a force and most of our pain and injuries or even performance in sport limitations come from poor movement!
So, we keep our eyes on YOU through every lesson so you can experience the transformation of Pilates. Continuously, lesson after lesson and after...
Mr. Pilates wanted you to do each exercise very specifically, not to make it "look" right but to help you build a better body!!

Not Yet
I believe in possibility. I believe in Pilates. :-)
Pilates is a steady forward moving process when you stay consistent. You may not notice things on a daily basis but every now and then you notice: less pain, more strength, greater mobility. You’ll find this in your everyday life and in your Pilates exercises too. When someone says “I’ve never been able to” or “I can’t since surgery” or “It’s been hard as I’ve gotten older”….my response is always, “not yet”. I can say that with great confidence because I know what Pilates has done and continues to do for me and for Robert and for you, our clients!!
So, please listen to what you say to yourself.. if it’s negative or limiting…STOP and replace with not yet. Then, ask Robert and I to focus on what is “not yet” so we can celebrate with you the “Now I can”.

Pilates was created by a Joseph Pilates. Yes, Pilates is a last name that became the name of an exercise method (that's a story for another day).
Yes, Pilates is a method. A method that gets applied to each person uniquely. Each person's progress is a unique journey.
Teacher and student are partners in the process. The equipment (or apparatus as it is classically called) provide the trained teacher the knowledge and the options to USE the equipment and the exercises of the Method so the individual can progress.
Progress to what? Joseph Pilates called it "developing the body uniformly" and said you do that by "complete coordination of body, mind and spirit". See his book called Return to Life through Contrology (that's what Joseph Pilates called his method).
A full method Pilates teacher takes time to develop through comprehensive training, consistent personal practice and through many, many hours of teaching and learning. The learning is never ever done...that's the beauty and the brilliance and the power.
At Today Pilates, we are classically, comprehensively trained on all apparatus. We are constantly learning in our own practice and with every lesson we teach.
Whole Person. Whole Method.
Transforming lives one lesson at a time.
Never boring. Always advancing. And dare we say, slowing the aging process and even reversing it. Start where you are....with the Pilates Method you won't stay there...you will progress towards uniform development a little bit with every lesson.
If you think you may want to experience the Pilates Method...we'd be honored to serve you.
With hope and love,
Kimberly and Robert
P.S. As Joseph Pilates writes in his book, " Contrology (Pilates method) is not a fatiguing system of dull, boring, abhorred exercises repeated daily ad nauseum."

Repetition. Not mindless. But curious, thoughtful and very intentional. We repeat powerful Pilates exercises to slowly and steadily bring about changes in our bodies. Then, we notice the difference in our daily lives - no more sore back, knees or neck no more limp, less slouch in the back etc....and we also notice the difference in our practice. What was once super challenging, uncomfortable or maybe even a little scary becomes strong, smooth and powerful!
Building an efficiently and strong body isn't really any different than building personal character or building financial wealth.
How much intentional Pilates will this take? We see the difference in 3x per week. Two is ok, slooow going. Three is just perfect and powerful!
Steady consistency. Informed actions. BIG results.
Ok, back to your regularly scheduled Tuesday.
