MEMBER HIGHLIGHT โ Meet Jason ๐ฏ
Four years ago, a friend dragged Jason to a Saturday community WOD. He almost didn't go. Didn't know the movements. Wasn't sure what to wear. Pictured a room full of athletes and himself looking out of place.
In his words: "Those steps at the front door seemed massively steep. I was so nervous."
He climbed them anyway.
What he found wasn't what he expected: "Instead of the 'gym bro' culture I was expecting, I found quite the opposite. People actually tried to remember my name. The real competition is yourself โ who you were yesterday."
Four years in, Jason keeps showing up โ on the good days and the hard ones. Outside the gym, he's a family man chasing experiences. Just got back from Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Travel, family, presence โ that's what he's training for.
His message to anyone scared to walk in:
"Just showing up has value. Has it been hard? Absolutely. Am I the best athlete in the gym? Nope. I'm just trying to be the best version of myself, surrounded by people doing the same thing. Be brave and walk through that door โ even if you decide it's not for you, you'll still have done a hard thing. And you can be proud of that."

Saturday, May 23, will take on the Hero Workout Murph in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who died heroically in Afghanistan in 2005. ๐บ๐ธ
CrossFit introduced Murph as an official Hero Workout in 2005, but Memorial Day Murph became something even bigger โ a tradition built organically by the affiliate community.
The original description of Murph read:
โIn memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28, 2005. This workout was one of Mikeโs favorites and heโd named it โBody Armor.โ From here on, it will be referred to as โMurphโ in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.โ

For time:
Run 1 mile
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups and squats as needed. If youโve got a 20-lb. vest or body armor, wear it.
