Hey all!

Can anyone help out Chiaraluna foreign exchange student from Italy?

She is traveling to the US in August to share her culture and learn about ours, but she needs a host family to welcome her first. She has her own spending money and health insurance, she just needs a seat at the table and permanent place in your heart! Chiaraluna is 16 and she says,
“Dear future host family, first of all I introduce myself: I'm Chiaraluna and I'm sixteen years old, I live with my family composed by: my mum, my dad and my two sisters. In free time I like going to the gym, hanging out with my friends, going to the shopping center and going to watch a movie. I also like reading books ( when I have time I read very much), listening to music and I like cooking for my family. In the weekend my family and I sometimes go to a restaurant for dinner. One of my biggest passions are HORSES. Since I was a child I've practiced sports. I tried many sports like: dancing, swimming, skiing ( when I was on mountain Holiday with family) and even archery! But my favorite still remains horse riding. I can only say thanks to my lovely parents who are giving me the opportunity to live all this and say thanks to all U.S.A. host families who are able to host with enthusiasm and big heart guys and girls, opening their houses as real families!”

One of the missions of MISHO is to provide educational opportunities for our membership. We are pleased to host Dr. Tami Eggleston for another sports psychology clinic on March 25, 2019. Dr. Eggleston is a professor of psychology and associate dean at McKendree University. She is a certified sports psychology consultant and is on the United States Olympic Sports Psychology registry. In addition, she works with various athletes from youth to professionals in sports ranging from volleyball to drag racing. Dr. Eggleston has given several seminars for MISHO on topics such as show nerves and perfectionism. This year's topic is "From Fear of Failure to Controlled Confidence."

Please join us at 6:30 for a light meal (sub sandwiches, chips, and cookies). Dr. Eggleston will speak from 7-8 p.m. and will be available for questions afterward.

The event is free for MISHO members and $5.00 for nonmembers. Membership forms will be available that evening. All are welcome--feel free to bring a guest.The seminar will be in Fellowship Hall at the rear of St. Paul UCC at 125 East Dee Street, Lebanon, IL (across from Subway).

The rest of the week up in Iowa was a blast! Our riders put in some lovely rounds.

Safira and Jackie took home champion in the Long Stirrup Hunters

D'Arenberg and Tracey were reserve in the 3'3 A/O's

City Limits and Siena received reserve in the Children's Hunter Pony and took home second in the classic

Heaven Only Knew and Ella received some great ribbons in a competitive division

What a fun week! Can't forget to mention the Ride and Drive where the girls dressed up as Barbie and Andre proved he was "Kenough". Thanks again to Kris Cheyne and Ash Duda!

Yesterday was derby day! Obora's Andre and Maddie took second in the USHJA Hunter Derby with a combined score of 173. Heaven Only Knew and Ella also took home seventh in the Handy Hunter Challenge! What a fun day🤗

Malibu Barbie aka Barbie is a 14yr old beautiful palomino mare, with a permanent card at 14.1. Barbie has many wins in the Children’s Hunter Pony division. Easy prep, big step, auto changes, good jump, will get a piece of the hack. Easy enough for a good riding kid to move from x-rails up. Sadly her current kid has outgrown and Barbie is looking for her next. Available for lease, please PM for more details.

The first Ridgefield Show is underway! It is so great to see our friends and new horses. Just a note.. The Upper Ring this weekend will start at 8:30am not 8am. The Grand Prix Ring will start at 8am. The course will be adjusted for Sunday so check the info boards!

Ridgefield is looking to hire a team member to handle the facility chores. Stable maintenance, cleaning, feeding and turn outs. We spent the weekend at the Flying Fox Horse Show with a great group of girls and horses! Some of our riders got to experience their first show outside of Ridgefield and we are so proud and happy to watch them grow. Here are some highlights from last weekend:

Savanna and Gatsby took home the blue in the MOHJO derby with great rounds in the Children’s Hunters also

Andrea and Yankee Scholar received the reserve champion in the Child/Adult Jumpers

Brigid and Carson took home the blue in the Mini Derby and also the champion in the Academy Hunters

Ella Fusco and Heaven Only Knew took home the champion in the Child Adult I with great rounds

DeeDee and Absolutely Designed received 2nd in the Mini Derby and also put in great rounds in the Intermediate Adult Hunters

Norah and Cosmopolitan received champion in the Long Stirrup Hunters

Lucy and Jo Malone took home the reserve as well in the Long Stirrup Hunters

Kate and Graham also took home the reserve champion in the Beginner Hunters

Quite an amazing crew we have going and looking forward to shows down the road! Thank you to Amy and Megan as well for making it possible😊
