Scenes from the Fall. Some photos of our steelhead streams in the Fall! Our fish are beautiful, and so are the places where we find them.

In July on our drive thru Montana from Missoula to Craig we crossed the continental divide and found these cool flowers, called bear grass. We also passed the place where Lewis and Clark split up on their return trip across Montana. Bear grass is native to subalpine meadows, open forests, and rocky slopes across the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions. Individual plants do not bloom every year. Mass blooming events (superblooms) are highly dependent on spring rainfall and moisture. It is also famously fire-resistant, often sprouting quickly after wildfires to help stabilize mountain soils.

Flashback to our Christmas Island hosted adventure in 2024. This place is a wade fisherman’s dream, with miles of hard bottomed flats where you can literally walk all day, every day. With such an incredible diversity of species, I carry 3 rods with me when I am with a guide-one for bonefish, one for triggerfish and one for GTs. If I am wading solo I have 2 rods-one for triggers and one for GT. We are headed back in 2027 for 2 weeks-reach out if you would like to join us.

More gulpers on Hebgen lake! I love headhunting on Hebgen. Quick, precise casts are needed to put your fly ahead of the cruising fish looking for flies. Fun and challenging fishing.

Flashback to March fishing at the Tail Inn Lodge, in Punta Herrerro, Mexico, on Espiritu Santo bay. We’re headed back next March for another hosted trip. We still have some spots available!

Flashback to a week & a half ago in Yellowstone National Park. Hunting cutthroats along the high bank. It’s fun to walk the bank and sight fish for cutties looking for a meal. You always need to be on the lookout for the wildlife. On this day I saw bison and pronghorn, and there was a grizzly in the area, bc there was fresh grizzly s**t & tracks, as well as a partial carcass, with flies still on it. I also heard a low growl coming from the high bushes across the river. That was my sign to turn around and head back the way I came.

Crooked Island, Bahamas summer fun.
Bob & Heather had a great time last week fishing with father & son Shakey & Coco McKinney on Crooked Island! One of the cool things about summer fishing in the Bahamas is the lack of crowds and less pressured, hungry fish. Summer is also a great time for permit & tarpon.
