🚨 Big news for Catamount! 🚨
After more than three years of planning, studies, and regulatory review, the Catamount Outdoor Family Center (COFC) is excited to announce that we have received our Act 250 permit for major improvements across the existing trail network.
This milestone represents a significant investment in the future of Catamount. COFC has committed more than $100,000 to the permitting process, including professional wetlands and archaeological studies, with substantial support and staff time contributed by the Town of Williston.
Work will begin with upgrades to the pump tracks near the parking area, improvements to the entrances of Elbow and Woods Trace, a complete rebuild and short reroute of Balsams, and a reroute of the upper section of Coyote onto Catamount Community Forest property.
Future projects will include a full reconstruction of Three Rivers, including replacement of all eleven bridges and boardwalks, construction of a beginner jump line and improvements to the intermediate line on Goose Hill, reshaping the dual slalom course, and refreshes to several additional trails.
Together, these projects will make the network more fun, accessible, resilient, and sustainable for riders and trail users of all abilities. The work is expected to unfold over the next five years and will position Catamount for future improvements in the years ahead.
To make this vision a reality, COFC is seeking donors, sponsors, business partners, and volunteers to support the effort. Trail work days are being scheduled now.
