Our athlete of the month for July is Marshall Lego! He recently completed an Iron Man 70.3, a huge accomplishment. Marshall is an amazing example of perseverance in athletic competition. When asked about his training, Marshall said, “Training for a 70.3 meant months of consistent work, long rides, brick workouts, learning how to fuel properly, and becoming a much more well-rounded athlete”.
“The biggest example of how well (Katie’s) coaching prepared me happened during the race itself. About halfway through the bike, I crashed and my bike was no longer rideable. I honestly thought my race was over. Throughout training, we had prepared for the worst-case scenarios and focused on controlling what we could control. Instead of giving up, I stayed calm, got my bike repaired, and finished the race. That experience showed me that triathlon is just as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one, and Coach Katie helped prepare me for both.”
“Looking ahead, my goal is to continue racing Ironman 70.3 events and keep improving with each race. Ultimately, I want to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. I know there’s still a lot of work ahead, but after seeing how much I’ve grown in my first season, I’m excited to keep learning, getting faster, and seeing what I’m capable of.”
Congrats, Marshall!!
