Happy Wednesday everyone!!! There are only a few days until the Donor Match event. We wanted to take this time to share a little bit about our story and why we are so passionate about organ donation.

In September 2017, Duke University doctors diagnosed Angelia with Goodpasture Syndrome (GPS). GPS mistakenly makes antibodies that attack the lungs and kidneys. For Angelia, GPS attacked her kidneys first. She immediately started dialysis, infusions, and medications to help slow the attack GPS was taking on her body. With more than 100,000 people on the transplant list at the time, Angelia expected to wait for 3-5 years before she would receive a new kidney. However, in 2018 her daughter Meghan secretly started the process to find out if she was a possible donor for her mom. Luckily, Meghan was a match and on August 30, 2019, almost two years after Angelia’s diagnosis, she donated her kidney to mom.
