Sadly the 2026 wrestling season has come to an end. Our girls wrestled hard yesterday at Harrison, but we came up short of getting anyone through to Columbus. Bristyl Ruddle and Kaylinn Vance both finished the day in 6th place. Congratulations to all of the girls. We are a very young team and there are many highlights coming over the next few years.

We’ll take a week off to heal and reflect and then we start preparing for next years run at the state tournament.

Thanks to all of our fans and supporters.

The Lady Cane fell 11 points shy of repeating as SBAAC Champions, but the girls all wrestled very well today and picked up a few upsets to finish Runner Up in a very competitive league tournament.

All 10 of our girls finished in the top 4!

120 - Gabby Wilson had 4 pitfall victories and finished as the 2026 SBAAC Champion

125 - Deja Bullard finished runner up to the 5th ranked girl in the state

130 - Morgan Allen wrestled in arguably the toughest weight class of the day, dropping a narrow 6-4 match to a state qualifier from last year and finishing 4th

135 - Bristyl Ruddle gutted out a 2-0 win in the finals (with a nice black eye to show for it) and claimed the SBAAC Championship

140 - Selena Gaskin picked ip a couple of pins enroute to a 3rd place finish

145 - Trinidy Campbell made quick work of both of her opponents to claim the title at 145

155 - Kaylin Murnane battled back theough her pool to finish 3rd in one of the bigger weight classes

170 - Kiley Murnane finished runner up, but showed great fight in the finals

235 - Kaylinn Vance finished 3rd and will look to avenge those losses next week.

The girls will compete this coming Friday in the sectional tournament at Western Brown High School at 5 PM. We are now in the win or go home phase of the season. Top 4 at Sectionals will advance to the District Tournament. The season will be over for those outside the top 4 and preparation for 2027 will begin.

This team is young and hungry. Should be a dun couple of weeks!

Good reminder. Post season is upon us. The girls have worked hard. It’s time to show it. Regardless of results over the next few weeks, we are proud of the progress these young ladies have made and they have shown that the future of this program is very bright. Let’s all appreciate them and the way they have represented our Cane family!

Good luck girls! We are proud of you!!!
