After defeating the #2 seed MGCS in the semifinals, the D1 Boys' Team lost the championship game vs. #1 seed CFA, 20-37. Despite the loss, it was a great season. We are proud of our Lions!

Girls claim the D1 Basketball Championship Title in a stunning win against MGCS! Way to go Lions!

D1 Girls Semifinal: St. Mark v CFA, win 23-16
The D1 girls played their Semi-Final Game on Thursday, February 3rd against Cape Fear Academy. It was a very slow start for both teams with the halftime score only having the Lions ahead 5-2. The pace finally picked up during the 2nd half and the Lions eventually pulled out the win by a score of 23-16. Savannah Hermann led the team with 10 points, followed by Addie Sterner with 4, Reagan Norris and Justine McCague each adding 3 points. This was not the prettiest of games, but the girls got the job done! The girls will play in the Finals on Monday February 7th at 6:15 against Myrtle Grove Christian School.

D1 Boys' Semifinal Game:
St. Mark v. Myrtle Grove Christian, won 45-24
After suffering two close losses to Myrtle Grove Christian during the season, St. Mark stormed into the Crusader's own gym in the semifinals of the tournament and convincingly beat them 45-29. They boys of St. Mark played stingy defense and were on fire with their shooting. Noah Farrell hit three 3 pointers in the first quarter and helped to set the tone for the game. Farrell ended the night with 16 points and Treyvon Robinson played with fire and had 12 for the Lions. Jacob Worden, Will Cherry, and Brogan Bottiglier all sunk in 5 points to put a decisive end to the game.

With this win the Lions move on to the finals against the always tough Cape Fear Academy team on Monday night. Let's go Lions!

The D2 Boys and Girls Basketball teams finished their seasons this week. Thank you to all the players, coaches and parents for their support of our athletics' program. Way to go LIONS!
