One of our students owns and operates one of the coolest comic book shops in the area, at 1855 Marsh Road. To help celebrate the amazing holiday, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, SATURDAY MAY 2nd, the Quiet Storm Dojo was invited to host an informational table to spread the word about Kokikai Aikido, Sensei Rick Berry, and our wonderful community.

It was a blast! We got to talk to a lot of people about Aikido and martial arts in general. Quite a few had never heard of Aikido, but a surprising number of people had seen the big sign on 202 and never thought to ask: so we clued them in on our wonderful community! It was also great to meet fellow martial artists, who gladly shared their experiences with us.

We recently had a self defense seminar taught by Professor James Simms and organized by our student Shannon Diiorio. We had a great turnout! Thank you to everyone who helped make it a success.

We’re excited to invite you to a Safety & Self-Defense event happening at the dojo this Thursday April 30th from 4:00–5:00pm led by Professor Simms. The session is being sponsored by a local mortgage team. Simms has put together a really valuable, practical presentation focused on real-world awareness and personal safety.

This session is great for all experience levels and could be valuable for family members, spouses, relatives or anyone who could benefit from increased confidence and awareness in everyday situations, so feel free to pass this along.

After the event, anyone who’d like to continue the conversation is welcome to join us for margaritas, chips and guac at La Tolteca.

We had a wonderful time at camp this past weekend and were delighted with three outstanding 1st kyu tests demonstrated by Kathryn, Laura, and Ben. Congrats to all! And a huge thank you to those who uked for the tests and to the NJ dojo for organizing the event. We appreciate the hard work!

Several of us from Quiet Storm Dojo attended Todd Kupper Sensei's test prep seminar this past Saturday. He covered a lot and I feel we all improved by the end! Excellent class and a real pleasure to spend time with Cecilia Sensei at Philadelphia Kokikai!
