NC’s 2 week flounder season started yesterday and I have a few days open this week and a few 1/2 days open next week. It’s the only time of year you can keep flounder in NC. Plenty of flounder around this time of year, and also a great time to catch an inshore slam - redfish, trout, and flounder.
September and October also offer the opportunities for “cast & blast” trips. This is hunting and fishing in the same day. We hunt clapper rails and fish for tailing redfish on the flood tides. It’s comparable to quail hunting but from a boat.

Some great days sightfishing redfish this winter when the weather cooperates. The water is starting to warm and fishing should keep improving through spring. We’ve got some open days in March and April if you want to go target redfish and trout.

When the weather is good the sightfishing this time of year is really good. Only a few openings left for March and April.
Soon we’ll start transitioning into summertime patterns for redfish and many of our seasonal species will start showing up.
Few trout, black drum, and flounder mixed in lately while targeting redfish.

The trout bite is picking up around Wrightsville Beach and Topsail Island. They’ve been good day savers when the wind picks up and on cloudy days. Some quality redfish showing up as well…even some over slot fish.

Crystal clear water and sightcasting to large schools of these make for fun winter days.
We’ve been catching them on both fly tackle and artificials on light spin tackle.
I have this Saturday open as well as March 14-20 and 24-27.

Wintertime fishing = large schools of redfish in shallow water in gin clear water.
So great days seeing hundreds of fish the last few weeks.
Unfortunately though not everyday offers good weather this time of year. However if you’re flexible and can go on a good weather window, winter can offer some of the best sightfishing of the year for both fly & light spin tackle. I’ve got plenty of late February and March dates still open.

Just a few months until the easiest fishing of the year. I still have some May dates open for striped bass fishing on the Roanoke River. With huge numbers of spawning fish migrating to a small section of river it offers easy fishing for all skills levels.
100 fish days are possible with both fly fishing and light tackle spin fishing gear.

Made it down to Louisiana for my annual guide season here. I still have a few dates open if you’re looking to come target 20-40lb redfish and black drum in shallow water.
Open dates-
November: 4-5, 16
December: 14-16, 19

A few pics from June and July. It has been super busy summer on the water. I think I’ve been off the water 4 days over the last 7 weeks so I’ve been bad about posting pictures on social media.
Some days fishing has been great and other days you’ve had to earn them in tough conditions and dirty water. But persistence pays off most days with some quality redfish, trout, and flounder. We’ve been catching fish on both fly tackle and light tackle spin gear with artificials…and bait when it’s tough.
I like summer, but my favorite months in NC are August-October. Late summer-fall is usually the most consistent fishing of the year for most all species inshore and nearshore.
Fall dates are starting to fill up so if you’re wanting to fish give me a call before we’re booked up.
Openings-
August:
13,16,17,19,30,31
September:
2, 7-10, 21,24-25,27-29
October:
4-9, 11-12, 20

I’m bad about keeping up with fishing
reports/posts due to being on the water everyday. Here are a few pics from the last week.
Fishing is getting good here on the Carolina coast.
We’ve been catching redfish and flounder everyday lately from Topsail Island and Wrightsville Beach, all the way down to Carolina Beach, Bald Head Island, and Oak Island.
I only have 2 full days and 4 half days open in June, but plenty of July-August dates still available. Many of our seasonal inshore and nearshore species are starting to show up in good numbers and fishing should keep getting better throughout the summer.

The last few months have been good for chasing redfish. Especially now that the weather is consistently getting better. Plenty of redfish in crystal clear water, and even some quality 3-5lb flounder around. Trout fishing has been inconsistent but should start to improve as well.
Once we get into mid May fishing should be good for many different species. Summer is starting to fill up so don’t wait to call if you want to get some time on the water.
