The hard impact of a wooden shaft was no longer a concern, so the pads are now made of lighter materials to allow for increased speed and mobility. Titanium and aluminum alloys simple don't have the mass or design to deliver a truly forceful hit, so pad design became less about stopping blunt force trauma and more about offering only the protection necessary to stave off the near weightless blows delivered by alloy shafts. Savvy players began to realize that with the new pads an old style wooden shaft would given them a considerable advantage when checking their opponents. They realized that there is no rule against wooden shafts, rather they had just fallen out of use. Demand began within the lacrosse community for wooden shafts, but unfortunately all the old companies that made them had long since shut down or simply no longer produced wooden shafts. Without a source for wooden shafts a lacrosse coach, and all out lax ju**ie, began making wooden shafts with the help of his friend; a local builder and all around master craftsman. Once a few shafts hit the practice field demand soon out weighed the first run of shafts that had been made. The initial product runs were small, with changes made each time to address consistency, quality, and durability. After experimenting with different wood species and shaping techniques StickMD arrived at our current process of shaft production and product lineup.
