Today, these young men helped with a heavy, kind of hot, difficult task of taking lockers out of the freshman hall at our high school. These will be repurposed at the Wynn Center.

I asked one to gather a crew and reached out to another. Paxton came through. They all rode up on their bikes (looking like a scene out of Sandlot), on time and ready to work!

It took them a couple of lockers, but they got a system down and carried out 10 units. To say I was impressed and grateful would be an understatement. I paid them with pizza for lunch, and they all seemed like that was enough.

This entire project is about community, helping others when they need it. (I really needed help.)

With generous donations from the school, business owners, and community members, we will bring this community center to life, even if the pace is slow. Because, as I told the boys today, “slow is fast and fast is slow.” Sometimes, taking your time and doing it right is better than just getting it done. Maybe nobody gets hurt.

Thank you also to the parents who are raising these kids right.
