Wednesday’s workout took the Lowry Cross Country team up Water Canyon for an altitude climb run, followed by hill repeats before finishing with a downhill run back on Water Canyon Road. A tough workout that challenged the team with both elevation and hills as we continue building toward the season.

Next up, Lowry will compete at the Reed Invitational on September 5th.

***LOWRY HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY AT THE OAKMONT INVITATIONAL***

On Saturday, August 29th, the Lowry High School Cross Country team traveled to Rocklin, California, to compete in the Oakmont Cross Country Invitational on a 4,000-meter (2.5-mile) course.

The Oakmont Invitational featured more than 60 schools and over 2,000 runners. Lowry competed against some of the top cross-country runners and teams from California and Nevada, giving our athletes the opportunity to race in one of the largest meets of the season.

The competition was strong throughout the day. Our runners faced large fields, fast racing, and plenty of competition at every stage of each race. Events like this give athletes an opportunity to race outside their usual competition and see how they match up against runners from other areas.

The Oakmont Invitational was an important early-season meet for our team. The results and race experience give us information we can use as we continue training and prepare for the rest of the season.

Thank you to our athletes and families who made the trip to Rocklin and represented Lowry High School.

Lowry Cross Country — First Meet of the Season

On August 21st, Lowry High School Cross Country competed in our first meet of the season at the Douglas Class Races.

The girls team was led by senior Alyla Thomas, who returns as the team leader after an impressive individual season last year. The girls team finished runner-up at the NIAA Cross Country State Championships last season, and they are looking to build on that success this year.

The boys team was led by senior Cooper Hoagland, who was an individual boys NIAA State qualifier last season.

Our freshmen had a strong showing as well, led by Cisco Renteria for the boys. The freshman girls were led by Ajerra Thomas, followed closely by Makaylah Thomas.

With our boys and girls rosters at their largest numbers in recent years, there is a lot to be excited about. We’re looking forward to a great season and watching this team continue to grow, compete, and represent Lowry High School.

LOWRY GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY — STATE RUNNER-UP! 🏆

On November 8th, the Lowry Girls Cross Country Team competed at the 3A State Championships in Reno at Rancho San Rafael Park — and what a day it was!

Our girls shocked the field and finished as the STATE RUNNER-UP, marking Lowry’s best team finish since 2009!

This group of young women has shown incredible grit, teamwork, and heart all season long. Racing on one of the toughest courses in Nevada, they gave everything they had when it mattered most.

Every runner stepped up, every point counted, and together they represented Lowry Cross Country with pride and determination.

So proud of these athletes — not just for the results, but for the character, commitment, and belief they’ve shown every step of the way.

Lowry Cross Country Update

Monday, October 27th, the team put in a tough practice — hill repeats followed by a strong tempo run. The intensity and focus were exactly what we need to prepare both body and mind for racing.

With the Northern Nevada Regional Championships at Rancho San Rafael Park (Reno) just days away (Friday, October 31), the Bucks are in the final stages of preparation to finish the season strong.

The team’s dedication and determination are on full display.
