μ μ "SHIN CHOOK" - TENSION & RELAXATION
Relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and focus on the posture of your lower back. We are always engaging with Tension and Relaxation in the body, even in "resting" positions. Our bodies can even hold onto tension long term, when we aren't aware - subtly exhausting us. Breath itself is a form of tension and relaxation, and it impacts everything we do. We often are fighting ourselves in our own movement; clenching when trying to expand, or adopting a rigid posture when trying to contract. Part of the practice of Martial Arts is to better align one's intentions and actions, stop fighting yourself unintentionally, and get out of your own way.
