The game becomes so much more fun and so much more beautiful when we learn to embrace the process.
There’s something special about being the rookie, when your biggest responsibility is simply to learn.
Learn from the players ahead of you. Accept that, yes, there are players better than you right now. There are players you look at and say, “One day, I want to play like him.” Watch them. Learn from them. Compete with them ..
Parents we all go through that stage…. And there’s nothing wrong with it 🤷🏾♂️✍🏽
High school & College got Rookies and Seniors 🗣️
Sometimes you have to be Pippen before you can become Jordan. You have to gain the experience, knowledge, confidence, and understanding of the game before you’re ready to lead.
So why is that so difficult for some parents to accept?
Instead of allowing their kids to be challenged, compete, struggle, learn, and grow, they would rather take them somewhere they can immediately be “the guy” even if there’s no challenge, no real learning, and no future growth.
Being the best player in the room isn’t always development. Sometimes being around players better than you is exactly what you need.
So here’s my question:
⚾️ What should be the ultimate goal for every young athlete?
I’ll be reading the comments. 👀
