Great read!
Every so often, the phone rings and we hear something like this:
โHi! Iโd like three cupping sessions, a liver cleanse, and acupuncture for anxiety.โ
And yesโฆ we are laughing. Lovingly.
Not because your symptoms arenโt real. Not because we donโt want to help.
It is not.
Ancient Chinese medicine is not a therapy buffet.
It is not a build-your-own wellness bowl.
It is not Chipotle for your chakras.
And it is definitely not a Michelin-star French restaurant where you fire the chef and march into the kitchen because you watched a cooking show once.
Imagine sitting down at a five-star restaurant. The chef approaches your table.
And you say:
โNo thank you. Iโll just head back there and assemble something myself.โ
You would be gently escorted back to your seat. Not because youโre unwelcome. But because roles matter. In medicine, roles matter too.
You wouldnโt walk into the ER and say, โOne appendectomy. Medium rare. And Iโll choose the anesthesia.โ
So why are you calling a Doctor of Chinese Medicine and ordering your own treatment?
Doctors diagnose. Patients describe symptoms. There is a difference.
Now letโs talk about a common one:
โI have muscle pain, so I need acupuncture.โ
Maybe.
Acupuncture is wonderful. It increases circulation, modulates inflammation, influences the nervous system, and helps with pain.
But sometimes muscle pain is not primarily a qi issue. Sometimes itโs structural alignment.
If your pelvis is rotated, if your rib is restricted, if fascia is adhered from an old injuryโneedles alone are not the hero of that story.
Thatโs when Zheng Gu, Tui Na, or An Mo may be more appropriate. Sometimes we combine structural work with moving cupping and topical herbal liniment.
Because medicine is not:
Symptom = One Tool.
It is:
Pattern + Structure + Constitution + History = Strategy.
Now letโs address cupping.
We love cupping. Itโs fantastic for blood stasis, qi stagnation, certain pain patterns, and respiratory issues.
But when someone says, โIโd like cupping for stress,โ we smile.
Stress is not a diagnosis.
It could be Liver qi stagnation.
It could be Heart yin deficiency.
It could be Spleen qi deficiency.
It could be Kidney yang deficiency.
It could be a combination.
Each requires a different approach.
The treatment follows the pattern โ not the trend.
And yes, we know Google exists. We are not offended by Google. We are mildly concerned by Googleโs confidence.
Reading about Liver qi stagnation does not mean you have it. Watching a 45-second video does not replace pulse diagnosis.
Chinese medicine is contextual. It depends on your constitution, digestion, sleep, stress patterns, medications, and history.
One herb can heal one person and aggravate another.
One point can tonify one constitution and drain another.
This is not DIY.
These therapies are physiologically active. They change circulation, structure, neurology, and systemic balance.
They are not scented candles.
They alter systems. And altering systems requires diagnosis.
So hereโs our gentle invitation:
So when you call us, try:
โIโm experiencing thisโฆโ
Tell us your symptoms.
Tell us about your pain.
Your sleep.
Your digestion.
Your stress.
Your history.
Let us examine you.
Let us diagnose you.
Then let us determine whether you need acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, structural work, nutritional guidance, or a thoughtful combination.
Diagnosis first.
Therapy second.
Every time.
We promise weโre still laughing.
But kindly.

Xฤซn Niรกn Kuร i Lรจ! ๆฐๅนดๅฟซไน! ๐
Today we welcome ไธๅๅนด Bวng Wว Niรกn โ the Year of the Fire Horse.
Fire Horse years are known for strong, fast-moving energy.
Fire illuminates. The Horse moves quickly. Together, this combination brings momentum, visibility, and rapid change.
Intensity is not something to fear โ but it is something to manage.
In Chinese Medicine, when Fire rises too quickly, the key is not suppression. The key is balance. Regulation. Composure.
This is a year that rewards:
โข Clear direction
โข Steady pacing
โข Emotional regulation
โข Strong foundations
When the external environment moves quickly, your internal stability matters even more.
At Si Jin Bao, our mission has always been simple:
to provide grounded, plant-based formulas rooted in classical wisdom โ so you can move through every season with strength and clarity.
May this Fire Horse year bring you:
๐ฅ Courage without burnout

Spring: A Time for Growth and Flow
As winterโs deep Yin begins to loosen its grip, we find ourselves at the threshold of spring, where Yang starts to rise again.
Spring is a season of emergence. Of growth, renewal, and forward movement. In Chinese Medicine, this is the time when ideas take shape, intentions gain momentum, and what has been quietly gathering beneath the surface begins to reach upward.
Spring corresponds with the Wood element, which governs the Liver, Gallbladder, tendons, and eyes. Wood energy wants to move. It stretches, pushes through resistance, and seeks expression. This is the energy of vision, creativity, leadership, and purposeful action.
With Wood also comes sensitivity: to wind, to change, to emotion. The associated feelings are kindness or anger, not as something to suppress, but as information: a signal that something wants to move or be resolved. Balance here doesnโt mean rigidity, it means flexibility. Like a healthy tree, rooted yet able to sway.
During this expansive season, gentle priorities matter:
-Staying emotionally fluid
-Supporting smooth internal movement
-Allowing rest alongside action
The Liverโs role in the smooth flow of emotions makes emotional wellness especially important right now. When things feel stuckโphysically or emotionallyโitโs often a sign to slow down, nourish, and create space for flow.
Sleep remains one of the most powerful tools for replenishment and renewal during this time. Deep rest allows the body to reset, repair, and prepare for the outward energy that spring invites.
If youโre feeling the call to support your body through this seasonal shift, this is a beautiful moment to revisit your daily wellness routine. Small, consistent choices can make a meaningful difference as we move into a more active phase of the year.
However you welcome spring, quietly or boldly, may it meet you with clarity, flexibility, and ease.

Eighty percent of the worldโs population uses herbal medicine, according to the World Health Organization. That points to a healthcare system that functions at scale. Herbal medicine operates within systems and is designed for ongoing use, not one-time intervention.
