The NSCD is SO excited to welcome Allie Johnson as our new Adaptive Horseback Riding Supervisor! ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’™

Allie first joined the NSCD as a horseback riding instructor, before pursuing ski racing and becoming a TWO-TIME Paralympian with Team USA. Now, sheโ€™s returning to the program that helped shape her journey โ€” and we couldnโ€™t be happier to have her back.

A Colorado State University graduate, Allie earned her Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH) certification in 2017 and brings years of adaptive recreation experience to the role.

A message from Allie:
"I am so excited to be โ€œback in the saddle,โ€ because this program truly means the world to me! My goal has always been simple. A lot of people with disabilities are told โ€œnoโ€โ€”no you canโ€™t do that, no itโ€™s too dangerous, no itโ€™s not possible. I want to be someone who says โ€œyes, you can,โ€ and helps give our riders the tools and confidence to prove it."

We are so happy to have Allie on the NSCD team! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Big things are happening for adaptive trails in Colorado! ๐Ÿšตโ€โ™€๏ธ

This week, the NSCD collaborated with . community partners from Jefferson and Arapahoe Counties, and adaptive mountain biking leaders from Boulder and Fort Collins for a roundtable focused on improving accessible outdoor recreation across the Front Range.

The conversation included future adaptive trail plans, accessibility improvements, and the opening of the new T-Rex Tooth adaptive trail at South Table Mountain. The group also discussed ways to improve trail access through thoughtful design, signage, parking, and shared trail use.

After the discussion, attendees test rode the NSCD adaptive mountain bike fleet and explored equipment options designed to support riders of all ability levels.

Weโ€™re excited to keep working together to create more inclusive outdoor experiences for all. ๐Ÿ’™
