🌊 **Scuba Tip Tuesday — Don’t Rush the Last 15 Feet!** 🤿

You’ve finished the dive and reached 15–20 feet. The surface is right there… but don’t rush it! A **3–5 minute safety stop** gives your body additional time to off-gas, lets you fine-tune your buoyancy, and helps you make a slow, controlled final ascent.

🫧 **Allow additional off-gassing** — That extra time at a shallow depth can help reduce decompression stress.

🎈 **Fine-tune your buoyancy** — Get your position and breathing under control before the final ascent.

⬆️ **Make a controlled ascent** — The last few feet involve a significant change in pressure, so take your time.

📍 **Know how your position will be marked:** Depending on the dive, your team may use an **SMB (surface marker buoy)**, or the boat may have a **line in the water specifically for your safety stop**. If a line is provided, stay near it during your stop and follow your dive crew’s instructions for the final ascent.

💡 **Pro Tip:** Plan your safety stop before you get there. Check your gas, maintain your buoyancy, stay with your buddy, and know what your boat or dive team expects you to do at the end of the dive.

**The dive isn’t over when you reach 20 feet!** 🌊

🌊 Scuba Tip Tuesday — Know Your Instruments 🤿
Your dive computer and gauges are constantly giving you information that helps you make good decisions underwater. But having the information isn't enough—you need to actually pay attention to it.
Before and during your dive, keep track of:
⏱️ Time — How long have you been underwater?
📏 Depth — Where are you in the water column?
💨 Gas supply — How much air do you have left?
🧭 Direction — Do you know where you are and where you're going?
💡 Don't just glance at your computer—understand what it's telling you. Know how to access your depth, time, gas, and other important information before you need it.
And remember, your computer shouldn't be the only thing you rely on. A reliable SPG, compass, and backup timing/depth information can provide valuable redundancy.
🛠️ Take care of your instruments, too: Rinse them with fresh water after every dive, keep them out of direct sunlight while drying, and store them in a way that protects them from damage.
Your instruments can't help you if you don't know how to use them. Take the time to learn your gear—and check it throughout every dive.

🤿 Scuba Tip Tuesday — Take Care of Your Regulator
(Your own or rental gear too!!)

Your regulator is one of the most important pieces of equipment you own. A little care after every dive can go a long way toward keeping it working properly.

💦 Rinse it properly
After diving, rinse the regulator thoroughly with fresh water. Keep it connected to the tank or make sure the first-stage dust cap is securely in place before rinsing.

🚫 Never press the purge button while it’s disconnected from the tank.
Doing so can allow water to enter the first stage.

🖐️ Don’t carry your regulator by the hose.
Pick up and transport your regulator by the first stage or another appropriate part of the equipment—not by the hose. Carrying it by the hose can put unnecessary stress on the hose and its connections.

☀️ Let it dry completely
Allow your regulator to dry before packing it away, and store it somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.

🔌 Protect your hoses
Avoid sharply bending, twisting, or crushing hoses when packing your gear. Check them regularly for cracks, cuts, bulges, or other signs of wear.

🛠️ Don’t skip professional servicing
Even if your regulator appears to be working perfectly, follow the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule. Your regulator is not the place to wait until something goes wrong.

💡 Pro Tip: Give your regulator a quick visual inspection before every dive. Look for anything unusual—and if something doesn’t seem right, have it checked before you get in the water.

Take care of your regulator, and it will take care of you. 🤿
