While we have a break between events, we want to hear from you.

If you could pick one and only one lake to add to our event rotation, what would it be and why? Lay it out for us..

Couple disclaimers:

- when we think about this, you have to consider the ability of the lake to host an event (size, permits, etc)

- suggestions are just that, doesn’t mean we will or won’t go with it, but we do want to hear from you all.

🛑 don’t make me regret asking this, if we start complaining I’ll delete the post. The intention is proactive dialogue not complaining about what has been. Disagreement, and discussion is fine, disrespect is not 🙌🏼

Lake Wister Recap
(Eastern Scorcher)

Well, we all knew going into this event it was going to be a hot one. Forecasts said it would be around 104 degrees. The board made call to start earlier than usual and get off the water before it got too hot. Most anglers agreed that this was a great call. Wister did not disappoint and as always anglers found them. See how the top placers did it below.

Our next event isn’t till September 12th on Arbuckle so mark your calendars. We are putting together a fundraiser in August, a possible nighttime team tournament, look for details to come out shortly! Also, as you have just seen the Classic Lake has been chosen as Lake Carl Blackwell in Stillwater.

1st Place Cody McCarter 91.50 inches
Started the day throwing a buzz bait but get any bites on it and then I switch to a square bill catching one small one and then catching a decent one. From that time on I didn’t catch anything else on the square bill. Found a brush and threw a shakey head in there and caught my big fish of the day and then proceeded to try and find brush piles the rest of the day. I broke off the shakey head and than didn’t have another and threw the Texas rig in the brush and caught back to back 18.5 and thought I had a chance at that time. Finished the day off with a 16.75 and knew I had a really good chance. I want to thank the OKA board for throwing another tournament and making the decision to end it early. It got really hot out there.

2nd Place Chris Jones 85 inches
Well, I set out Saturday morning to head far up the creek in search of clearish water and maybe cooler water. I went for an hour straight and when I was light enough to see I started fishing. I was instantly on them. Had a limit by 6:22 on a small popper. I caught a few more and had 82” by 7. My bite stalled for about an hour and I caught an 18.25 to bump to 85 inches. I didn’t have much luck the rest of the day. I used a buzzbait for my top 5 but I caught a lot of 13-14” fish on the popper.

3rd Place Michael Galbraith (Big Mike) 77 inches
I started my day in the cove where I launched. Fishing in the dark is always tough since you can’t see the bank and turning your head lamp on would result in an endless attacks by the murder nats. Second cast with a chatterbait landed me a massive, long nose gar. That wasn’t fun in the dark. So, I decided to make a run and down the lake to the next cove. As I get to a rock point, I see a fish blowing up on bait. So, I threw the only thing I had in my had at the time, a brush hog. Landed my first fish an 18.50 incher. I ran several other points with the brush hog and managed to catch 3 keepers before I transitioned to the old square bill. I managed to catch my limit by 930am and managed to cull up a few times. The key fish that put me in third came late in the day on a windblown point in about 8 feet of water. I changed over to a fritz side 9 and managed to land a 15.75-inch bass.

Once 5am hit and it was time to start fishing I just started with a buzz bait at the ramp I launched at. 2nd cast I caught a solid 16 incher to get my morning going. So, I kept the buzz bait in hand and started covering water. Made my way to a rocky point and tossed the buzz bait onto the bank and reeled it into the water and two cranks in I heard a small little blow up and felt some weight, so I set the hook and landed the fish. Didn’t realize it was as big as it was until I got it on the board and to my surprise it was 21 inches! Was fortunate enough that it held all day and was able to get my first big bass honor of the OKA trail. Huge thanks to the members of the board for all they do to put these tournaments together! Looking forward to the next one!

🎣 IT'S OFFICIAL - THE OKA CLASSIC IS ON! 🎣

Mark your calendars, anglers: The OKA Classic is coming to Lake Carl Blackwell on October 3rd & 4th!

We picked this lake on purpose. Carl Blackwell isn't just one of the best-kept secrets in Oklahoma bass fishing, it's 3,370 acres of history. Built in 1937 and still owned and operated by Oklahoma State University, this lake has been producing quality largemouth, hybrid stripers, saugeye, and crappie for generations of Oklahoma anglers.

There is a ton of logistics associated with choosing a lake for this caliber of event, but here is a bit of why we settled here.

📍 Centralized. Sitting almost exactly halfway between Tulsa and OKC, Carl Blackwell is an easy haul no matter which side of the state you're coming from.
🏨 Close to everything. Stillwater is minutes away with a full lineup of hotels, and the lake itself has cabins and 12 different campground areas if you want to stay right on the water.
🍔 Food for days. Between the lake's own store, Stillwater's restaurant scene, and everything a college town has to offer, nobody's going hungry on weigh-in day.

Afternoon Everyone,

As I will be traveling this evening and service isn’t great, I will be going live to handle the captains meeting for Wister at 2:30 PM today..

You don’t have to watch live but if you’re fishing Wister you do need to watch it before tomorrow at 5:00AM.

🚨It's Derby Week🚨

Hope everyone has enjoyed the short break, but it's derby week, and it's HOT out there. The Wister event is up on TourneyX, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone out this weekend.

To help combat as much of the heat as we can, we're making the following change, for this event.

Launch and Lines in at 5:00AM and Lines Out at 1:00 PM.

Start hydrating DAYS in advance, and if you're not feeling well on the water, make sure you're taking breaks. You are permitted to exit your kayak to get wet and cool off (just no portaging).

Now, more than ever, it's important that we keep an eye out for each other. Bring extra water, get your electrolytes, and be mindful of the sun.

Contact us if you have any questions, and we'll "see" everyone during the captains meeting!

OKA Event #6 Greenleaf Lakes (ARKANSAS RIVER) Tourney recap

As most of you know most parts of Oklahoma had received record rainfall weeks and even days leading up to our Arkansas River event. This led the board into making the decision on moving this event due to rising flood waters on the river making having an event too dangerous to host on the river. So as always, the board made a decision to move the event to Greenleaf Lake and Greenleaf Creek. In Oklahoma fashion mother nature had a final say.

On the morning of the event a serious storm rolled in right at launch and lines in time. This storm brought heavy rain and lightning to the area. Several anglers braved the weather and hit the water in search of the winning pattern. This was also a combined event for the Oklahoma Kayak Bass Nation. See how those anglers did it below. Our next event is on Wister Lake on July 25th.

1st Place Robbie Anderson
Well, my day started like everyone else’s in the lightning lol. Never seen the lake before I had no idea where I was going, I just saw on maps this lake had a spillway, so I headed that way. As I got closer, I saw several in that area so I just pulled up to the first point I saw on my maps. I waited out the storms and once it was lines in I went around the point and just a few casts I had a really big one on that that ended up beating me and breaking me off. I was obviously disappointed but it wasn’t long and I catch a 20 and 18 incher in the grass but I really didn’t like the grass, I stayed in it just a short time after that and decided to go offshore and see what there was and I just targeted drop offs on my maps and there was fish everywhere I caught another 20 and I’d say 8-9 more 18s and a couple of 17s. All of them were on a Senko Shakey head. It was a really fun day for sure. Thanks to Oka and everyone that made the tournament happen. Congrats to everyone else.

2nd Place Jason Ray
I started my morning with a long run from the ramp with Randy. The storms started right when we arrived at our starting spot. We waited out the storms for over an hour just praying we wouldn’t get struck by lightning. Huge thank you to Randy for holding my kayak as I dove in the water to get my pedal drive back. After the storms left, I had a frog bite that just wouldn’t go away, I caught well over 20 fish on a frog all the way until around 1 pm. It was a fun tournament and I’m just glad everyone was able to stay safe and make it home. Congrats to everyone who placed.

3rd Place Randy Creason
Pre-fishing for the Greenleaf lakes event I decided to check the lake over the river based off the fact that I thought the water might have been more consistent with all the rains. I found a few fish in a small pocket and some larger than average shad and decided to work that area on Tournament Day. On tournament day the fish I had found had moved somewhat but the shad had not I was able to take advantage of the post storm bite window and catch a 19" to help boost my best 5. I spent the middle of the day working grass edges until I found a solid spook bite in the last hour or so to cull up a few extra inches. Thanks to Jason Ray for riding out the storm with me, thanks again and again to the OKA board for all that you do. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in my journey so far this season.

Big shout out to Jason Ray and Tou Vu for punching their ticket to the Bassmaster Kayak National Championship with their 1st and 2nd place finishes respectively. Also want to shout out Stone Ridge BBQ In Gore for hosting our awards, the food was amazing.
