Flannel Fest & Firelight Social is a new 21+ event where you can grab your favorite flannel and enjoy a cozy adults-only evening at White Oaks Park on Thursday, October 1, from 6:00–9:00 pm.

Enjoy a flannel contest, s’mores around the fire pit, lawn games, seasonal treats, refreshments, warm drinks, music, and plenty of festive fall fun. Whether it’s a date night, a night out with friends, or simply a chance to unwind, this is the perfect way to kick off the fall season!

Calling all young artists and storytellers! Create your own comic adventures in the Do Art Productions: Graphic Novel Workshop.

Participants will explore the exciting world of graphic novels by creating original characters, developing storylines, and learning comic-making techniques like paneling, storytelling, and onomatopoeia. Each class includes a take-home project to remember the experience.

We’re looking for 80+ volunteers, ages 13+, to help make Scarewalk the most thrilling event of the year! Volunteers will receive costumes, props, and scene details.

Mandatory Volunteer Meeting: Tuesday, October 13 | 6:30–8:00 p.m.
Recreation Complex - 111 E. Foster Ave.

Volunteers must be willing to follow event guidelines and participate in their assigned roles. High school volunteers need a parent signature, and 8th-grade volunteers must have a parent volunteer with them for the entire event. School volunteer credit is available upon successful completion.

Introduce your little athlete to the game of basketball with Little Hoops! This instructional league helps children ages 4–6 build confidence while learning fundamental basketball skills, basic techniques, and teamwork using junior-sized basketballs and 8-foot hoops.

Practices begin the week of October 5, with games held October 16–November 20 at the Wood Dale, Itasca, or Medinah Park Districts.
