2029 LHP Jude Alberico | Summer Program Gains

Jude assessed with MPL in June this year, topping out at 62 MPH. Now in September, he’s sitting 74–77 MPH and topping at 78.

The velocity jump is the result of a cohesive approach to development. We worked on improving Jude’s athleticism, strength, mobility, and overall ability to move more efficiently on the mound.

62 ➡️ 78 MPH in 3 months.

A drastic jump in a short period of time, but more importantly, a foundation built for continued development.

Anthony Ribes, has a story of dedication, belief, and patience ⬇️

Anthony first met MPL Director of Player Development Brett Huber when he was just 14 years old and beginning his training journey.

There was a gap in that journey when Brett left the area, but when MPL was created, Anthony came back to train to continue his development at both MPL HQ and MPL Springfield over the years.

Now a 5th Year Senior, Anthony’s story is a reminder that not everyone develops on the same timeline. He continued to put in the work, but just as importantly, Anthony believed in himself and what he could become.

From beginning his college career at the NAIA level to now competing at a Top 25 Division II program at UIndy, Anthony’s journey is proof that there is more than one path.

The biggest gains aren’t always made in one offseason. Sometimes it takes years of work, patience, and believing in yourself when the path doesn’t look exactly how you imagined it.

We’re proud of Anthony and everything he has earned. His journey is a great reminder to keep working, keep believing, and give yourself the time to maximize your potential.

Eric Herman | Lincoln Land RHP/C

Development isn’t always about immediately changing everything. Sometimes you have to find your throw organically first — figure out how your body wants to move, build confidence in it, and then make the adjustments from there.

For Eric, that also meant finding a throw he could repeat and command consistently. Once he found that foundation, we could build from there.

Eric did exactly that. Now he heads back to Lincoln Land with a different level of confidence, improved command, and a fastball that took a big jump.

82 ➡️ 87 MPH

Owen’s story is a special one ⬇️

Owen started training with MPL at 15 years old, and he’s still putting in the work today.

He began his college career as a walk-on at Saint Louis University. As a freshman, he earned meaningful leverage innings. By his sophomore season, Owen had earned a scholarship, became the Ace for the Billikens, dominated the A10, and emerged as the #1 prospect in his class in the conference.

From there, Owen entered the transfer portal and chose to continue his career and education at Ole Miss.

As a junior, he played a major role in helping the Rebels get back to Omaha. Then came another decision, one that wasn’t easy. Owen turned down the opportunity to enter professional baseball and returned to Ole Miss for another year.

There have been a lot of milestones along the way, but Owen’s story isn’t about one season, one velocity jump, or one big moment.

It’s about believing in long-term development.

It’s about continuing to work when there was no guarantee of where the journey would lead.

And it’s about trusting that if you continue to invest in yourself and your development, you’re giving yourself the best opportunity to become the player you’re capable of becoming.

From a 15-year-old walking through the doors at MPL to competing on one of college baseball’s biggest stages, Owen has never stopped working.

And he’s still not done.

Nathan Matoush | LHP | Smooth Operator

One last look at Nathan’s arsenal before he heads off to school.

A deep 3-pitch mix, Nathan averaged 90.4 MPH (T92) with the fastball, paired with an 81.4 MPH changeup and a 76.2 MPH sweeper that showed 18.5” HB and 4” IVB.

Dartmouths lefty has legitimate weapons. Smooth. Efficient.
