Woodland Park Hockey Association

Woodland Park Hockey Association WPHA is seeking donations for our short and long-term goals as well as funds required to keep our program moving forward.

The Woodland Park Hockey Association www.woodlandparkhockey.com is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of amateur hockey for Woodland Park and the greater Teller County area. WPHA is working in conjunction with the City of Woodland Park Parks and Recreation Department to further develop the hockey programs and ice rink at Meadow Wood Sports Complex. We understand that some businesses cannot give cash donations so we are planning future fundraiser's and will post these events on our web site as they become available. WPHA would welcome donated goods or services which can be raffled or auctioned to benefit our cause.

Today, we hosted our annual mite jam, Above the Clouds Mite Jam! We had 14 teams from around the state who came out and play on our newly prepared ice. Weather was beautiful! Ice was perfect! The sled hills were hopping! The s’mores were being cooked to perfection on the burn barrels. Oh and we had a little bit of hockey - 8:30am-4:45pm. Thank you to all our participating teams for spending the day with us and all the smiles that were had! Thank you to the many volunteers who have put in 80+ hours over the last two weeks to get the ice ready for the jamboree today!

This winter season has not started out in any way how anyone would have planned. Flooding during Thanksgiving started but warm temperatures took out all of our ice in December. For the new year we’ve been working to build ice…we are finally there! Today we were able to host our first practice for our U8 and U6’s. And we hosted first game of the season this morning for our U10’s. We still have more ice to build today so the rink will remained closed for maintenace.

Tomorrow, come stop by and see 14 different 8U teams coming out to skate in the Above the Clouds Mite Jam from 8:30am-5pm. The smiles on these little kids faces is contagious.

We are hoping that public skating opportunities will start next week when ice we’ve finished getting enough thickness down. Please watch the City of Woodland Parks website for the ice schedule. https://woodlandpark.gov/499/Meadow-Wood-Sports-Complex-Ice-Rink and City of Woodland Parks page.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who have put in many man hours over the last two weeks to make this happen.

We finally have some colder temps coming which means we are hoping we finally get to kick off our 2nd half of our U6 and U8 season at MeadowWood next weekend.

Do you have a kiddo with a birth year of 2017-2021 looking to get involved in hockey? Whether you’ve got a kiddo who has skated before or never skated, all abilities welcome! We have most equipment available to be borrowed that you’ll need (limited in helmets). 1 practice during the week (usually Wednesday evening) and then 1-2 touches on the weekend. We are dependent on weather conditions and hoping we will get a later winter season.
