A rainy start but a great day at WRC Annual Fall Show. Thanks to all who attended and thanks to our volunteers who keep the shows going. Our show sponsors were Downes Dumpsters and Ulster County Fair.

Fireworks are highly dangerous for horses. As prey animals, their instinct is to run from loud, sudden noises. Flashes and booms cause panic, leading to fence crashes, severe injuries, or fatal colic. Horses have a very strong "fight or flight" response. In the wild, running is how they survive threats. When fireworks go off, horses do not know what the noise is, or where it is coming from, and blind panic can lead to horrible consequences.
We are lucky to have a supportive group of neighbors, and generally our country road is quiet, but many horse owners face this every year, and every year a beloved horse dies. To enjoy this 4th, attend an organized public display! As a known, planned event, anyone nearby has the opportunity to plan.
