September 1969, high school graduation was already a dim memory, it was the end of summer - the beginning of the meloncoly nature of autumn, and I was already at Coast Guard basic training in Cape May, New Jersey - everything in life was new and changing rapidly; then the Beatles Abby Road album came out, and the news the Beatles had broken up. That album captured a sense of the times and provides a musical still life that, to this day, invokes powerful memories & emotions in a whole generation of listeners.
