Lifeline and Myrlyn’s meaning to the movement:

In January of ‘22, I started teaching Oula at the Worthington Community Center. Mrylyn has been a regular who shows up and leaves it all on the dance floor. Week after week she allows herself to connect to the music and move in a powerful way.

When the song Lifeline was released, I was especially excited to share this song with my Sunday crew. They LOVED it! Last week Myrlyn reached out to me and requested this song because it holds a really special place in her heart.

April is National Donor Month as well as the 5 year anniversary of losing her son, Jon. An incredible organization, called Lifeline of Ohio, was there to help her and her family through one of the toughest times of their lives. Jon was only 28 but because he was an organ donor he was able to donate 5 of his organs and give life to others. Myrlyn and her family were able to meet Jon’s heart recipient and hear his heartbeat. Because of Jon, and Lifeline of Ohio, this man was able to move forward with his life, get married, and have a family.

The song Lifeline spoke to Myrlyn in a way that I didn’t know until she shared her story with me this week. It is a reminder to us all why being an organ and tissue donor is so important. It may seem like a simple box you check when you renew your drivers license but the impact it has on those who go through it is profound. Lifeline of Ohio was there for Myrlyn and her family when they needed it most. They stayed with Jon till the sunrise just like the song says. The donation process is so important and is truly a lifeline to so many.

Thank you Paisley for creating beautiful choreography to a song that means so much. Thank you Oula Community for being there for us all when we need it most. And thank you Mrylyn for sharing your story.
