USA O60 Batting Unit – Summary for World Cup in Canada

Overall Batting Strength

The USA O60 squad enters the Canada World Cup with a deep, experienced, and inform batting lineup. The core middle order that performed strongly in the previous World Cup in Chennai remains intact, and the addition of three new batters—Shahid Mehmood, Mayur Bhakta, and Parak Ananta—significantly strengthens the unit. As the document notes, “the team literally can bat till X1.”
All-rounders such as Srikanth Satya, Zubair Hussain, Rajesh Idate, Ahmed Merchant, and Rizwan Sheikh further extend the batting depth.

Key Batters:

Jeevaka Weerasinghe – The Backbone
Jeevaka will be the fulcrum of the batting unit, with a standout performance in Chennai. His mastery of technique and temperament brought *“all the elegance and artistry of the ASIAN batsmen to the fore.”*An outstanding batsman with an envious record, Jeevaka had a dream World Cup in the previous edition. Scoring runs at will and overcoming the stiffest of conditions Chennai had in store, Jeevaka was at his very best. Jeevaka’s highest score of 135 came against Zimbabwe in a winning cause. Jeevaka is currently ranked 5th in the O60’s IMC World Rankings.

Ajith Jeyasinghe – Relentless Run Scorer
Ajith matched Jeevaka’s impact in Chennai and remains in excellent form, having scored heavily leading up to the Canada event. Ajith was just unstoppable and scored at will all through the tour of India. Ajith is in great form and scored tons of runs in the lead up to the upcoming event in CANADA. Ajith is ranked 14th in the O60’s IMC world rankings.

Chandrakanth “CK” Barlingay – Reliable and Battletested
CK’s Chennai campaign included a memorable 74 against New Zealand, praised for its grit in extreme heat. He enters the World Cup fresh off a century in local veterans cricket.

Ravi Suri – Versatile Vice Captain
Ravi contributed crucial innings in Chennai and is expected to play a flexible role, having experience batting in multiple positions on tours to England and South Africa.

Pri DeSilva – Calm and Experienced
Pri’s steady presence and ability to contribute at key moments make him a valuable middleorder option. Pri brings calmness to the wicket and his rich experience will be very handy on the tour to CANADA.

Wayne Copeland – Multigear Lefthander
Wayne brings World Cup experience, adaptability, and composure. His third World Cup appearance adds leadership and stability. Wayne can bat in multiple gears and his ability to step on the gas when required makes him a very useful middle order bat.

New Additions Strengthening the Lineup
Shahid Mehmood – Explosive Opener
Shahid is a dynamic, high-impact batter with extraordinary domestic records, including a 280-run innings and a recent 154 off 70 balls. He will open the innings in Canada.
Mayur Bhakta – Technically Elite Left-hander
Mayur is the most technically sound batter after Jeevaka. His patience, technique, and ability to build long innings make him a key top-order asset.

Parak Ananta – Middle-order Stabilizer
A veteran of three O50 World Cups, Parak’s IMC record is exceptional. His fitness, running between wickets, and comfort against both pace and spin make him a crucial middle-order presence. Parak is a very busy player and keeps moving the game forward. An incredible temperament allows him to play to the situation.

Overall Assessment
The USA batting group is experienced, skilled, and in excellent recent form, positioning them as one of the strongest batting units in the tournament.

Curtain Raiser Summary — International Masters Cricket O60 World Cup, Toronto

The IMC O60 World Cup begins in less than two weeks, running from August 9–23 in Toronto, Canada, where 14 nations will compete for a spot in the Final on August 23. The tournament will show “age is just a number and passion can overpower any obstacle,” capturing the spirit of IMC’s mission to extend competitive cricketing careers for veteran players.

USA O60 Squad Overview

The USA squad has been preparing quietly and diligently for 6–8 months, building on experience from previous IMC tournaments.
Leadership
• Captain: Jeevaka Weerasinghe Former Sri Lankan firstclass cricketer and captain in the previous O60 World Cup in Chennai. He had a standout tournament, scoring 540 runs, including a 135 against Zimbabwe. The USA narrowly missed the semifinals on NRR in that edition.
• ViceCaptain: Ravi Suri Part of the Chennai World Cup squad and has captained USA O60 on tours to Cape Town and England when Jeevaka was unavailable.
Coaching & Support Staff
• Coach: Raj Badadare Current USA O50 vicecaptain with extensive IMC experience, including the O50 World Cup in Colombo. Raj has overseen and guided the O60 squad’s preparation.
• The Key Man : Arun Vittala “the grand old man of MCUSA,” Arun contributes across all aspects of MCUSA — administration, onfield support, and strategic guidance. His experience with the USA National team and Indian cricket stalwarts adds invaluable depth to the team’s think tank.
