We recently wrapped up our 2026 SYC Jr. Sailing Program, and we could not be prouder of our Jr. Skippers. We challenged them, and they met every one of those challenges head-on — facing each with determination and grit, and overcoming every obstacle put in front of them.
This year, we incorporated learning the nautical alphabet into our weekly curriculum, and many Jr. Skippers embraced it wholeheartedly, studying hard so that when “Survivor Shad Island” arrived, they were fully prepared for the ultimate challenge: Outsail, Outrun, and Outplay.
Wind conditions ranged from perfect to light to breezy with strong gusts, but nothing unsettled these young sailors — they handled it all with confidence. By week’s end, both our Jr. Skippers and coaches weren’t ready to see the program come to a close.
These students have shown they’re ready for the next level, with some already trying out the lasers and sailing solo. We’ll definitely need to step up our game next year to keep up with them!
