So while cleaning out my parents house this spring I took my father’s mount because he shot it when he was 12 years old in 1959. The ears were cracking and crumbling, the stitching was coming apart. I wanted to re-do it, but I really didn’t have room for another shoulder mount. I also wanted to see what the form looked like in the 1950s. It was interesting, to say the least. So instead of making a new shoulder mount, I decided to just take the skull cap and make a nice antler mount, while still honoring my Pop and his first buck. I think he’d be happy with it. I had a custom name plate made and can do the same for your mounts.

If anyone out there has an old mount they want re-done or “downsized”, reach out and I’d be happy to create something new for you. Here’s the before and after. Thanks for following RRWM.

I’m always looking for something new creatively to bring to my mounts and offer clients. I came across an article detailing how to metal finish skulls. I tried the technique and it came out really cool. I’ll be offering this finish on my skulls this coming deer season, or for any skulls you have and are interested in this finish. Brandon picked up his awesome Bradford County 8 point rifle buck. I built the wall piece out of barnwood, and added a piece of driftwood and pine branches for depth and color. I then in-laid a name / date plate to personalize the mount. Congratulations Brandon and thanks for choosing R&RWM.
