Think late-night bowling is something new? Think again!

During bowling’s booming years of the 1950s and 1960s, some bowling centers operated 24 hours a day, giving night-shift workers, truck drivers, travelers, and die-hard bowlers a place to hit the lanes at just about any hour. 🎳⏰

Imagine finishing a midnight shift and heading straight to the bowling alley—or deciding at 3 AM that it was the perfect time to work on your spare game! 😂

Different shifts. Different schedules. Same love for bowling.

🎳 TIP TUESDAY: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FIT! 🎳

Your bowling ball shouldn’t just look good and react well—it should fit your hand correctly. A proper fit can make a huge difference in comfort, consistency, and how cleanly you release the ball.

A good fit can help you:

🎯 Improve accuracy — A repeatable release starts with a ball that fits your hand.

🤝 Reduce squeezing — You shouldn’t have to grab the ball to keep it on your hand.

💪 Use your natural power — Proper span and pitches allow your hand to work naturally through the release.

✋ Stay comfortable — Pain, excessive pressure, blisters, or constant rubbing aren’t something you should simply accept.

⚠️ Watch for the signs: If you’re squeezing the ball, experiencing pain, getting blisters, or suddenly struggling with your release, it might be time to have your fit checked.

And remember—your fit isn’t necessarily permanent. Hands can change over time, so the fit that worked years ago may not be ideal today.

🎳🏨 THROWBACK THURSDAY: CHECK IN… THEN BOWL!

Imagine checking into a luxury hotel, dropping off your bags, grabbing dinner—and then heading downstairs to roll a few frames! 🎳

Bowling has popped up in some surprisingly upscale places over the years. During the early 20th century, private bowling lanes could be found in hotels, clubs, estates, and other exclusive venues. Bowling wasn’t always just a trip to the neighborhood lanes—it could be part of a night out in style!

🛎️ Luxury accommodations
🎳 And a few frames before bed!

We think hotels need to bring this idea back. 😂

🎳 BALL HIGHLIGHT WEDNESDAY 🎳

This week we’re throwing it back to a Storm classic — the Alpha Crux! ⚡

The Alpha Crux was built to provide plenty of motion while still giving bowlers control through the lane. Its combination of an asymmetric core and pearl coverstock helped it clear the fronts and create a strong, continuing move downlane.

🔥 Why bowlers loved it: Easy length, strong backend motion, and plenty of continuation through the pins. It was a great option when you needed the ball to get through the front part of the lane without giving up hitting power.

🎳 TIP TUESDAY: SURFACE CHANGES — SMALL CHANGES, BIG RESULTS! 🎳

Did you know the surface of your bowling ball can dramatically change how it reacts on the lane? You don’t always need a different ball—sometimes a surface adjustment is all it takes to get the reaction you’re looking for.

🔴 Rougher Surface (500–1000 grit)
Creates more traction and gets the ball reading the lane earlier. Great when you need the ball to dig into heavier oil.

🟣 Medium Surface (around 2000 grit)
A versatile middle ground that can provide a more balanced and controllable reaction.

🔵 Smoother Surface (3000+ grit or polish)
Reduces early traction and helps the ball get farther down the lane before making its move.

💡 Remember: Surface doesn’t simply mean “more hook” or “less hook.” It changes where and how the ball uses its energy. A rougher ball generally reads earlier and smoother, while a shinier ball generally creates more length and can produce a sharper response downlane.

And sometimes even a relatively small surface adjustment can completely change what you see on the lanes!
