Slower day today but still caught a few. Had a decent North wind to deal with followed by dead calm and then it blew from the East. Fish were a touch confused. Not the best but we made the best of it. Shallow brush piles and scattered rock, still flipping.

Great coachable customers make for great trips. Most of the fish we are catching are still acting like it’s summertime, which makes sense as water temps are still 80 degrees give or take. Deep brush piles and ledges are holding hungry fish however I expect that pattern to change as we finally begin to cool off those daily high temps. Lost two more good ones today that wrapped them up, better luck next time!

Calling the shots on little buck bass...

Yup! That’s the third 7-8lb class fish in one week. Good customer went and ran some of the same water today that we fished Friday morning and woke up another big girl. Excellent job, Lavon is waking up.

Per my previous post, it’s getting better everyday. 7.84 this morning for a new customer PB and a handful of small bucks with a few keepers mixed in. Put all your rods in the box and keep a flipping stick handy.

Had a 7.5 in the boat Tuesday night on Lavon. I’ve said previously that these fish are still a little behind schedule but the next week or so should be ON.

Great day aboard the Skeeter. Happy to host a father/son trip and these guys could flat out fish. Makes my job easy. Numbers were awesome and we were probably around 15lbs or so best 5. Had a nice fish come unglued at the boat that would have been icing on the cake.

Fished Lavon tonight. Still somewhat tough but largemouth are chewing. Had great numbers but no big fish (over 5lbs). My guide days are a little limited (no weekends left this month) but have a few openings during the week.

White bass and crappie seem to be on fire but not what we chase usually. I’d rather see one big ‘un blow up a frog than catch a limit of anything else.

61 in the shallows of Lavon. It’s about time!

2020 is off to a great start. Lavon is fishing well for winter. Starting to see some nice fish being caught. It’s not a quantity thing, some trips I’ve only had a few bites but the quality is really amazing. Fish up to 7lbs and after this cold front / apocalyptic snowstorm, long range forecast shows pretty mild temps so expect it to continue to get better as the days get longer.

This year I’m getting back to my roots of competitive fishing with the fine folks at Texas Tournament Zone and the Super 6 Statewide Tour. If you haven’t checked it out plenty of time to register before Amistad and still qualify for the championship.

Last weekend we kicked it off on Lake Travis and my partner and I were able to pull off a 5th place finish out of 190 teams. Visit them at www.ttz1.com for more info.

I’ll still have some time to guide but dates are fairly limited so let me know so we can get you booked.
