🚨 BLOCKBUSTER LATE NIGHT TRADE ALERT 🚨

We've acquired forward AJ Schlepp and goaltender Gabe Rosek from the Monroe Moccasins in exchange for future considerations!

Schlepp, an imposing 6'8", 209-lb forward, is widely regarded as one of the toughest players in professional hockey. The 26-year-old Medicine Hat, Alberta, native recorded 305 penalty minutes in 34 FPHL games during the 2025-26 season and also appeared in two ECHL games with the Worcester Railers.

“AJ is, in my opinion, the toughest player in the league, and we are incredibly excited to bring him to Blue Ridge,” said Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations Vojtech Zemlicka. “He brings a huge presence and is always willing to answer the bell and stand up for his teammates. He's proven that he never backs down from a challenge. He's capable of changing the momentum of a game and we felt we needed a player like him this season. He's a great presence to have in the locker room day to day. We are incredibly excited to have a player of his stature in Blue Ridge.”

Rosek, a 6'1", 181-lb goaltender from East Lansing, Michigan, impressed in his first professional action with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL) and Monroe last season. The 25-year-old posted an 8-3-1 record with Roanoke, recording a 2.64 GAA, .908 SV% and two shutouts. With Monroe, he posted a 1.67 GAA and .943 SV% while winning all three starts. Rosek previously played NCAA Division III hockey at Concordia University Wisconsin, posting a .918 SV% in 20 games in 2024-25 and earning NCHA All-Conference recognition.

“Gabe really impressed us with his composure and consistency,” Zemlicka said. “His numbers with Roanoke and Monroe prove he can perform at a high level. We believe his resume, college experience and detailed approach will make our goaltending group stronger. He has a very high ceiling and potential to be one of the league's top goaltenders. We're very excited to see what he'll be able to do with us.”

🚨 PLAYER SIGNING ALERT 🚨

Help us give a huge to defenseman Yuri Karatay!

The 6'3" 212lb Belarusian blueliner brings an impressive playing background in juniors to Blue Ridge.

The 21 year old defenseman spent two seasons in the MHL, the highest level of junior hockey in Russia. There, he posted 15 points (5G, 10A), 20 penalty minutes and an impressive +13 rating in 58 games. Karatay made his foray into North America last season, putting together an impressive 2025-2026 campaign with the NAHL's Amarillo Wranglers where he recorded 10 points (4G, 6A) and 31 penalty minutes in 32 games.

"We’re very excited to bring Yuri to Blue Ridge," said Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations, Vojtech Zemlicka. "Yuri is the type of defenseman we’ve been searching for — a big, strong, right-handed defenseman with a heavy shot who will add depth to our D-core. He has a lot of upside, and as an organization that is known for working with younger players, he’s another big piece of the puzzle that we’re excited to work with. He’s going to make our back end bigger, deeper, and more difficult to play against."

"After spending last season in North America playing for the Wranglers, Yuri learned to use his size more effectively, both offensively and defensively, which has prepared him to make the jump to the FPHL," Zemlicka continued. "What we like about his game is that he can play with an edge and be difficult to compete against defensively, but he’s also very comfortable with the puck. He can make a good first pass or rush the puck up to help us get out of our zone and go north. He’s mobile and deceptive on the blue line and does a good job finding lanes to deliver the puck, which is an important quality for us."

We have acquired F Bailey Morissette from the Baton Rouge Kingfish in exchange for future considerations!

Morissette, a 5'7" 190lb left-shot forward brings an impressive resume and over 5 years of professional experience to Blue Ridge.

The Dorval, Quebec native has competed in top-level professional leagues in Sweden, France, Germany and the Netherlands. He also brings a wealth of experience at the North American Single-A level in the LNAH, SPHL and FPHL.

Morrisette posted 9 points in 19 SPHL games between the Macon Mayhem and Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in 2023-2024, before moving overseas and joining the Nijmegen Devils of the Dutch second-tier professional league. There he showcased his unique blend of skill and toughness, posting an eye-popping 43 points (19G, 24A) and 91 penalty minutes in just 24 games (including playoffs).

Last season with Baton Rouge, he again racked up major numbers, recording 19 points (8G, 11A) and 39 penalty minutes in 25 games.

“We’re extremely excited to bring Bailey to Blue Ridge," said Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations, Vojtech Zemlicka. "He’s a dynamic offensive player who has already shown that he can produce at a high level in this league, and he brings a combination of skill, speed and competitiveness that can make an immediate difference for us."

"Bailey plays with a lot of energy," Zemlicka continued. "He’s strong on the puck, he attacks defenders instead of waiting for the game to come to him, and he has the ability to both finish plays himself and create opportunities for his linemates. I really like his confidence with the puck and the way he competes in the hard areas despite not being the biggest player on the ice. He gives us another dangerous offensive weapon who can play in different situations, contribute on special teams and bring some bite to our lineup. We believe his style fits very well with how we want to play, and we’re excited to see what he can do in a Bobcats jersey.”
