It is that time of year when the long range forecast means that we can no longer maintain the ice and the Skate Park has closed. We hope everyone enjoyed this season and we hope you have a safe and healthy year until we meet again. In the spirit of Dr. Robert Mackey (who the Skate Park is named after), please do something to help others - just because it is the right thing to do.
Mackey Skate Park
Just down the road in York, Maine is a locally run ice rink. It is on town land but not run by the town of York. The cost is free. Yes, I said FREE.
It is run by several guys in town that want people to have some winter fun. This is a community project, that was built, maintained and operated by volunteers. It is located on Bog road, just off route 91 near the highway. There are two skating areas, one is about 50 feet by 60 feet, and the other is about 50 feet by 75 feet. This is sight you don’t see often in March! Get out and skate!
With the temperature dropping again, the lights are on at the Skate Park and it will be open for at least the next few days. Get out and skate!
There is standing water on the ice from the warm temps today so the rinks are closed tonight, Saturday, Feb 28th. We are getting near the final days of skating. There is a cold blast coming early next week and that might be the last skating of the season.

Both rinks have been plowed and lights will be on at dusk. Get some skating in before the next storm on Monday.
With the temperature staying above freezing today, both rinks have slushy ice so I did not turn on the lights and the Skate Park is closed.

The parking lot and the rinks have been plowed. Lights on at dusk. It is getting to that time in February when it is hard to tell how many skating days are left as the sun gets higher in the sky and stronger, along with the temps rising. Get your skating in!

The rinks were flooded last night, Feb 2nd, so there is fresh ice today. It is a beautiful day and the rinks are waiting for skaters.
