One of my favorite putting drills is the Ladder Drill.
This drill is all about speed control — one of the biggest keys to eliminating 3-putts.
Here’s how I do it:
⛳ Place tees every 10 feet across the green
⛳ Start at the first tee and putt balls to each distance:
10’, 20’, 30’, 40’, and 50’
⛳ Focus on rolling each ball the correct distance — not making putts
Once you finish the ladder, level it up:
Start at the shortest distance and try to roll each putt all the way to the final tee.
Then move to the next distance and repeat until every ball finishes at the end target successfully.
The best part about doing this outdoors is learning how to control speed on both uphill and downhill slopes.
The more consistent your distance control becomes, the fewer 3-putts you’ll have on the course. 🎯

To put every green for lower scores. Get the long pots close and make the close pots. The PGA Tour average is 97% from 3 feet. Take advantage of the close pots and make your score. More efficient.

Stop coming over the top.
Place an alignment stick a few feet behind the ball, angled down the target line. Then set up and make your normal swing.
If the club gets steep in transition, you’ll hit the stick and cut across the target line. The drill trains the feeling of shallowing the club in the downswing so the club approaches from the inside for a more consistent strike.
Simple drill. Instant feedback. Better ball striking.

Hitting greens and regulation is one of the clearest indicators of good Golf.
1. It leads to lower scores to
2. You remove pressure from your short game
3. It shows real ball striking consistency
4. Increase birdie opportunities
5. It’s a measurable way to track improvement
Reach out if you need help more consistently hitting greens in regulation

Working on a drill to eliminate Over the Top so the student swings the club more on plane. Feel the club stay behind your back and slide down the wall to “feel” the correct movement.
