It turned out to be an amazing sunny day after some torrential rains yesterday for our Annual York Beach 5K ASC fundraiser. Thank you to all of the Agamenticus Ski Club leader and volunteers for making the race a success and for all that you do for the club: Scott, Lew, Amy, Brett, Julie, and Julia. A big thank you to Laura for being race director and for learning and co-founding ASC!

Host a nordic-skiing exchange student this fall!
Giada from Italy is sunny, kind, and empathetic. She will be 16 on arrival and in the 12th grade this fall. She has one twin sister, with whom she is close. Her mom is originally from Moldova and that may be where Giada’s love of learning languages came from. About herself, Giada says, "I'm a person who manages to adapt very easily to new experiences, I'm very curious and I can't wait to meet new people and to discover a new culture. I do sport, I read a lot and I hang out with my friends.” Giada’s dad is a former biathlete, and she says he may have passed down his love of sport because she loves to nordic ski, which she has been doing for six years and requires a great deal of dedication. Her parents say she "is a very brave girl, who knows how to throw herself headlong into the things she believes in, always trying to bring out the best in herself.” In addition to nordic ski, Giada enjoys watching soccer, traveling, hanging out with friends, reading, and swimming. She has excellent grades and terrific teacher recommendations.
Students bring spending money, health insurance, and the desire to experience American culture. Host families volunteer to provide room, board and a supportive family environment. Host families can choose a student who looks to be a good fit for their family's interests and lifestyle. Local support is provided to students, host families and schools.
