It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former Ballyhoo Field Hockey Director Dave Marsh.
You have played a part in so many lives, and will be remembered for your dedication to youth sports in our community, both at Club and High school, and the selfless hours you gave to helping others.
David “Dave” Leroy Marsh, age 59, of York, PA, passed away on July 25, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1966, in Jamaica, to his mother, Hazel (Martin) Anderson, stepfather, the late Roy Anderson, and father, the late Luiroy Marsh.
Dave married Holly (Bongiorno) Marsh in Philadelphia, PA on June 17, 1995. A love story that began in a dance class in State College, the two celebrated 31 years of marriage in 2026.
He is survived by his wife, Holly, daughter Marissa Arianna Marsh (25), son Devon Xavier Marsh (21), mother Hazel Anderson, mother- and father-in-law Mary Jane and Daniel Bongiorno, sisters Roxanne Thames (husband Arnel) and Carol Johnson (husband Yuri), brother Ray Anderson (wife Jeanette), sister-in-law Danielle Hendrickson (husband Jonathan), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Roy Anderson, father Luiroy Marsh, and grandmother Olga Jones.
After graduating from York High and Penn State University, Dave found his passion as a field hockey and softball coach, teaching, mentoring, and leaving a lasting impact on students across the county for over three decades. A beloved figure in our community, he touched so many lives and ran into former students, classmates, colleagues, and friends often, whether at local sporting events or just a run to the grocery store. Dave loved coaching, sports, Penn State, watching TV, and spending time with his friends, wife and children.
