Dear Customers & Friends,

After almost ten years, we have decided to close the Geneva Kayak Center. Life changes have lead to this decision and as is said...there is an end to everything, good things as well.

We want to thank you for your patronage of the center - we have many fond memories of great adventures with you. We will cherish the countless hours on the water with you, times we spent sitting around a campfire and Saturday morning conversations at Kayak & Coffee. Over the years, we paddled with you on the Fox River, Lakes Michigan and Superior, and in Alaska, Georgia, Mexico, Greece and the UK.

We will always take pride in introducing countless people to kayaking and helping people find joy in spending time on the water. Numerous friendships (and even one marriage we know of) were started through the center. We've seen customers go from new paddlers to excellent instructors and top notch kayakers.

Thank you for being a part of the Geneva Kayak Center. We would not have been able to share these moments were it not for you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Yes, we are open Labor Day! Still a few openings. This would be a great weekend to try kayaking or SUP.

GKC Coach and one the region's finest instructors - Haris Subacius - is running the L3 Sea Kayak Weekend August 23-24. Having just worked with Haris during his Level 5 Instructor Training I know the three students from Kentucky will have a great weekend. We have room for one or two more student so hop in if you'd like a well rounded intermediate sea kayak training.

We are down to one opening on this one folks! Join GKC coaches Ryan Rushton (ACA Level 5 IT and BCU 5* Sea Leader) and Jim Tibensky (ACA Level 5 Instructor, Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide and US Canoe & Kayak team coach) for a week of fantastic training and fun in Downeast Maine. A special shout out to Andy Cocallas and Dave McGovern of the Illinois Paddling Council and the Chicago Whitewater Association. They spent time today clearing the ww park of trees that had washed in during the recent rains. The park is in great shape for the Illinois Whitewater Festival July 12.

The ww park at Yorkville is perfect for long boating right now.

While Ryan is in Alaska, the Illinois staff is looking forward to a fun weekend. Join us Saturday for a paddle and coffee at 8:30 a.m. Bring your own boat or rent one of ours - we'll have the coffee pot on.

Stay or join us later for SUP fun with mini lessons 11-12 and 1-2. $15, call the shop to reserve your space. Limit 6.
