A few days ago we had posted to save those eggs from the female Kings and Cohos to fish with later in the run. Here is a quick Spawn Floating Checklist for the equipment needed to properly float spawn in either a spawn sac or fished in the skein. Hey everybody, Tony here, just wanted to say thank you for all the prayers and well wishes I received. Surgery was a success on Friday the 18th. Just got home today from the Hospital. 3 days was long enough for me. I’ll be checking in more in a few days.

For our Anglers that are new to Salmon fishing during the Fall run, the first part of the run we primarily cast spoons and crankbaits. The second half of the run we fish spawn sacks or skein. Save those eggs from any female salmon caught early on in the run to use for bait later, once the salmon are dropping eggs. The salmon do not eat them for nourishment and it is rare that they even swallow the eggs (some new studies do show that some do). It is a territorial aggression strike to chase away other salmon from their spawning area.

After a 17 year long battle with Diverticulitis Disease, it all finally comes to an end! This Friday, September 18th, I will be undergoing a colon resection surgery to remove the bad parts of my colon. I’ll have to lay low for a few weeks and I may go completely quiet on everyone for a few days right after surgery but we will be back shortly after with content for the page, whether it be Tackle Talks, Lake Beats or Picture posts. WE WILL BE BACK on the water filming about 3 weeks after surgery.

Wind shifts have slowed the decline in water temps and thus has really slowed the Salmon Run action down on the South end of the Big Lake. Paying attention to the Major and Minor activity windows of the Lunar Chart are crucial to your success of catching these King and Coho Salmon, early in the Fall run, especially when Mother Nature stacks the deck against us.
