Sometimes, horses just need time to be horses 💙

Regular turnout and natural movement are some of the most meaningful gifts we can give our horses. Time to graze, wander, stretch, and simply exist in their surroundings supports the whole horse- body, mind, and spirit.

Turnout offers far more than exercise. Gentle, unstructured movement encourages healthy digestion, keeps joints and muscles supple, boosts circulation, and nurtures a calm, content mindset. It’s one of the simplest ways to help our equine partners feel their best.

Every horse deserves a feeding program as unique as they are 💙

At Mountain Refined Equestrian Center, we understand that every horse and pony has their own personality, workload, metabolism, and history- all of which shape what they need. Their feeding program should reflect those differences.

There’s no “one size fits all” in horse care. Some horses need extra calories, others need careful weight management, and many benefit from targeted nutritional support.

That’s why each horse in our program receives a personalized feeding plan. We monitor their condition, adjust as needed, and make sure every horse gets the support that helps them thrive.

At Mountain Refined, every horse is more than a name on a stall card- they’re an individual we take the time to truly understand. Their care plan is tailored to their needs, their history, and the partnership they share with their rider.

We are thrilled to celebrate Louise Porter Martin on the purchase of her handsome new horse, Kermit! 💙

Kermit’s striking steel-grey color makes him impossible to miss, but it’s the exciting new partnership between horse and rider that has us smiling the most. Louise has been part of the MREC family for some time, and we couldn’t be happier to see her begin this new chapter with such a special horse.

New partnerships are filled with possibility, and we can’t wait to watch Louise and Kermit grow together in the months and years ahead. Congratulations, Louise- we are so excited for you both! 💙

We are so excited to celebrate Amanda Ward Bostian and Dan! 🐴

With his flashy chrome and standout presence, Dan certainly knows how to turn heads, but we have a feeling it’s the partnership between these two that will shine even brighter. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a new horse and all the hopes, goals, and memories that come with beginning a new journey together.

We can’t wait to watch Amanda and Dan grow as a team and see all that the future holds for them. Congratulations, Amanda- we are so happy for you both! 💙

More Than Riding: Building True Horsemen & Horsewomen 🐴🧼

At Mountain Refined Equestrian Center, horsemanship starts long before riders enter the arena. One of the first skills our students learn is proper tack care- because clean, well‑maintained equipment keeps horses comfortable, prevents rubs, and helps riders spot wear before it becomes a safety issue.

🐴 Fun Horsemanship Fact:
Leather “breathes,” and sweat + dirt can stiffen the fibers. Regular cleaning keeps tack flexible, strong, and long‑lasting. This small habit that makes a big difference for both horse and rider.

Our tack‑cleaning area gives riders hands‑on opportunities to build responsibility, awareness, and respect for the partnership they’re developing. At MREC, we’re proud to teach every part of what it means to be a true equestrian 💙
