With the venue confirmed, our focus now shifts toward finalizing our agreement with Gus Macker after Labor Day and continuing preparations to welcome hundreds of teams, thousands of visitors, and an unforgettable weekend of basketball and community to Muskingum County.
This is another major milestone, but the work is just beginning.

Today, members of the Gus Macker Zanesville Executive Committee had the privilege of meeting with Mayor Don Mason to provide an update on the progress of bringing Gus Macker back to our community.

During our conversation, we shared updates on sponsorship growth, venue planning, committee development, and tournament operations while also seeking the Mayor's feedback on areas where we can continue strengthening our planning.

We are grateful for Mayor Mason's strong support of this community initiative. The Mayor discussed ways the City can assist with the tournament as planning continues, reinforcing the collaborative effort that will be essential to hosting a safe, organized, and successful event.

We are especially thankful for the City's partnership. Alongside our sponsors, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and countless community volunteers, the City's involvement reflects a shared commitment to bringing Gus Macker back to Zanesville.

After taking the month of June off to accommodate everyone's busy summer schedules, the Gus Macker Zanesville committee is officially back and hard at work preparing for the 2027 Gus Macker tournament!

As we move closer to event weekend, our focus is shifting from planning to ex*****on. Over the rest of 2026, we'll be finalizing logistics, coordinating volunteers, confirming sponsors and vendors, and making sure everything is in place for a fun, safe, and memorable experience for our community.

Gus Macker will begin conducting host city contract signings for the 2027 tournament season shortly after Labor Day. This process allows host cities to officially lock in their tournament dates for the 2027 season, meaning we're getting even closer to making the return of Gus Macker to Zanesville official!

🏀 GUS MACKER ZANESVILLE 2027 UPDATE 🏀

Tomorrow, Executive Chair Dominique Proctor will be heading to the Chillicothe Gus Macker Tournament to volunteer as a scorekeeper and gain valuable hands-on experience with tournament operations.

This will allow him to see the different parts of the tournament firsthand, including registration, bracket tent operations, scorekeeping, volunteer coordination, court flow, and overall event logistics.

The goal is simple: learn from an active Gus Macker tournament and bring that knowledge back to our committee as we continue preparing to bring Gus Macker back to Zanesville the right way.
