Lady Quakers 12U - Neff

It was a tough 3-2 walk-off loss for the Lady Quakers this morning against Trojans 3G. The team carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning but with 2 outs, the Trojans were able to hit the gaps and eek out the win.

Despite the loss, the girls made some exciting defensive plays. Ellie Copenhaver had a nice stretch on-the-run catch at 2nd to get out of the 2nd inning. Riley Anderson had an impressive day defensively at centerfield, robbing the Trojans of 4 fly balls - 3 of them for all of the outs in the bottom of the 4th. Ava Danko made a double play in the bottom of the 5th, catching a pop up and forcing the out at 1st when the runner did not tag up.

McKenzie Meechan led the team offensively with an RBI double, Emily Neff doubled, and Danko had a sac fly RBI to right field.

The team is off next weekend, then returns to Newark the following weekend for the Ohio Bison tournament.

Lady Quakers 12U - Neff started slow in pool play today, losing 13-4 in game 1. Game 2 was a 2-1 loss after being cut short due to inclement weather, considered completed after only 3 innings to keep the schedule moving. The bats finally woke up in game 3, and the Lady Quakers won 16-0 to earn a spot in the gold bracket for Sunday.

MVPs for the day were Hunter working behind the plate and Ari with a 2-RBI triple and a 2-RBI single on 2 at-bats 💪

The girls get a rematch against Trojans 3G tomorrow at 8:00am.

With bats on 🔥, lights out pitching and top tier defense, Lady Quakers 12U - Neff proved to be the best 12U team at the Guts and Glory tournament this weekend!

The Lady Quakers went 3-0 on the day (5-0 on the weekend), beating Poca River Mudcats 11-6, Post 3 by a score of 14-0 and Lady Rebels 9-1 for the championship title🏆

The defense kept opponents on their toes, putting out runners on the base paths, making double plays, and catching pop ups all day. Coupled with big bats and dialed-in pitching, the girls’ off-season work showed!

Next up, MWTF Contender or Pretender tournament at Kiwanis Park in Newark next weekend 5/16-5/17.

After being rained out in Akron for our season opening tournament last weekend, the forecast for this morning at the Guts & Glory tournament at Riverside Park in Zanesville had us nervous!

Luckily a 4-hour delay was enough time for the rain to subside and we played our 2 full pool play games against Muskie Chix and Post 3. Lady Quakers 12U won both games 9-4 and 5-4 to earn the 2 seed in bracket play tomorrow! 💪

MVPs on the day were Rylan & Emily working hard behind the plate and in the circle.
